Hi everyone,What a pretty horse.Have a happy day!
 |  |
Karen, tomorrow morning I'll turn and wave toward DFW airport. Usually at South Padre they have mosquitoes, but this time of year they shouldn't be active, but it couldn't hurt. Andrè, no I'm sitting in my little cubicle in my little corner of the world. The hand/freeway line is from WKRP TV show in the 60's, delivered by Howard Hessman as Dr Johnny Fever.

ap, you included Dictionary in your list. One thing I've always wondered. Where is the index for the Dictionary???
 |  |

Bill - Nice to see someone else who apprecites the wisdom of Dr. Johnny Fever . At least he didn't think turkeys could fly!!

2:16, what an impressive horse!
 |  |
Bill,i have made a mention that its only an excerpt from a book called 'THE DEVIL'S DICTIONARY' by Ambrose Bierce ..if i happen to provide the index,it will become too cumbersome..i just make a post of certain pieces that impressed me the most..hoping that it may entertain you...just thats it...
The complete book can be found on the Project Gutenberg site http://www.promo.net/pg/
cheers

There is a site for The Devil's Dictionary which does not have anywhere near all the links and graphics and advertisements of the Project Gutenberg site.

http://wiretap.area.com/Gopher/Library/Classic/devi ls.txt

Because it is pure text, it downloads much more quickly. On my dialup connection, it simply appears, taking no time at all.

to everyone. What a beautiful horse!

ap, Usually an index will cover all of the words and subjects listed in a book. I have never seen an index for any of the dictionaries I have read. I've also noticed that every dictionary is in alphabetic order, seems like they could group it by topics or something else. very boring reading anyway. And for LK - boooogerrr!!!!

Here's a challenge for all you word-happy sudokuists, taking our cue from ap.... A Word for the Day.

The rules (feel free to amend, if you want).

1) Anyone may post a word for the day.
2) Anyone can and should offer a definition.
3) Even and especially if you don't have a clue More...

Today's Word for the Day
(starting with D, in keeping with ap's posting)

'delitescent'

Bill - Laughing all alone at my desk! I believe these are the appropriate symbols

Karen from Ohio; if you plan to spend a fair amount of time outside, I'd definitely bring some bug spray. We've only had the one, bad cold-snap/ice storm so alot of the bugs are still up and around (especially since it got into the 70s this week.) They aren't too bad, but still evident if you are considered a tasty treat by mosquitoes (which apparently I am). Hope you have a good trip!
 |  |

'delitescent' - a delightful scent, commonly not something that eminates from husbands
 |  |
Delitescent: a calorie-free odor that can only be sensed in de daylight hours.
 |  |
I am not sure I would pack bug spray on a commercial flight. The TSA might think you were a terrorist! They took my sample-sized toothpaste at Christmas because it was not in a one-quart plastic bag. When I asked what it was about the plastic bags that would make the finger-sized item magically More...

delitescent - the flame produced when lighting your armpits (please don't try this at home)..

WOW! I just set a new personal best of 2:06. I was clicking nearly as fast as I could move the mouse!

Good afternoon all! We have beautiful horses like that in Saratoga in the summer. Oswego, which is in the western part of New York State, is still getting hit with snow. I think they got around nine feet of snow already. Fortunately/unfortunately, we have not gotten any of the snow since we are too far from the Great Lakes. Some of that snow would be nice here.

delit...escent: Becoming dark as the lights are turned out.
 |  |

delitescent - The monetary system of the lesser known Delites, a tribe hidden in the Augustavian Icebergs of Pluto. It is thought that they left coinage at the altar of Charon..
 |  |
Wow Andre, yours is very d & m.
delitescent - perfume used by the leader of the Amazonian tribe to ward of evil men.
 |  |
ANDRE ... RE: your ''armpit'' definition. I know that underarm shaving is not always the rule over there, but I assumed that the absence of such a practice was limited to the Continent! LOL
 |  |
To Bill, Stephanie, and Jim: I am taking bug spray, but it's in a zip-lock bag in my checked luggage. Hopefully, that will be OK - it was OK to take it that way when we flew in November and December. I did not try to carry it aboard with me. Thanks for the tips. I plan to have a good, relaxing time.

Judy - here the female has decided that the practise of armpit burning - delitescenty, is necessitative of the male cleansing system rather like a male 'wax'. See LK's comment re; The smell.

Good afternoon to all! Nice looking horse. It's Friday.... yeah! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A Friday funny....

Ending his sermon, a preacher announced that he would preach on Noah and the Ark on the following Sunday, and gave the scriptural reference for the congregation to read ahead of time. A couple of boys noticed something interesting about the placement of the story in the More...

And for you teachers, something to think about over the weekend.....

An English teacher often wrote little notes on student essays. Often she worked late, and as the hours passed, her handwriting deteriorated. One day, a student came to her after class with an essay that had been More...

Canuk Greg, thanks for the joke I was beginning to think we were going without this morning, though Texas Bill offering to do mammograms was funny.
 |  |
Delitescent- delight of the growing pile of cents.
 |  |

Canuk Greg, read Bill / Texas' post at the top of the page. That was my reference was WKRP, great show wasn't it? And from Bill to me, and from me to you - boooogerrrr! as said so eloquently by whom?
 |  |

CG, thanks for posting the dialog from that show, still funny stuff! Need to find the booger show. Does anyone know if it is still on re-runs somewhere?
