Housework never beckons to me. It always repels me to the point of violence !

It was a gorgeous day here. My husband and I took a long walk on the beach this afternoon, then stopped at a sidewalk cafe in the village for a cold beer. They were giving out free samples of their fried shrimp - which were the best I've eaten in recent memory - so we ordered some. My diet, More...

Tree Sheila - I just went back to read your joke. It was STUPENDOUS....(she whispered softly).

Wow, Jane, I wish I could end my walks with some fried shrimp, but wine instead of beer.
I came home and had breakfast instead; mueslii, fruit and yoghurt and a pot of tea!

Jill - enjoy your cuppa and a bit of relaxation.
Notice I have to keep having breaks between jobs.

Anne - I am normally a wino....er "wine connoisseur", but the day just seemed to call for a beer. And I have developed a fondness for Blue Moon (when it's on draft - not bottled) with an orange slice. It went down so nicely with those absolutely sinful, delectibly crunchy butterflied fried shrimp. The batter was very similar to a tempura, so it was light and crispy.

Tree Shelia..I too loved your joke...and being a woman, I know that I couldn't sit quietly for a period of time with another woman...lol something or someone would most certainly evoke a comment or two..or three...perhaps more!
Jane, that's the kind of walk I'd love to take...I only get to walk with the dog, and that's not shrimp waiting for me.....lol

Hello Mamacita - how are you today? I hope Sully is feeling as well as can be expected.

Jane - I've tried our beer a couple of times and I just didn't like the taste so I stick to wine, or Bailey's when I buy it, which isn't often. I'll treat myself to some duty free at Christmas when I come back from New Zealand.
Next job!!

Jane - I am sitting here drooling! Here I am drinking a cup of instant coffee and wondering what to have for lunch. I know...I will go to daughter's and if I hang round long enough I might get given lunch there (snigger, snigger). It definitely won't be beer and shrimp though, dammit. Daughter and More...

Tree Sheila - at least you'll be in good company as you gag on the lentil meatloaf and try to swallow the tofu down. Swirl it down with a glass of wine, that should help.
Now to tackle the shower tiles. Ugh, what a job!

Tree Shela: I read your joke to my daughter, then added Kathy's comment that it must have been written by a man. After a moment she said, "One of the women must have fallen asleep."

Tree Sheila - One of my nieces has gone vegetarian - but not entirely. She still eats fish and seafood. My husband and I eat vegetarian about three times a week - for health reasons, but I really enjoy my red meat! And poultry - and fish - and FRIED SHRIMP!

How is Liz coming along? Is she making good progress with the implant?

Sorry, Tree Sheila - I didn't mean that your joke wasn't very funny, it was, but if IslandBea's daughter was serious, it struck me as very funny.

Jane - it's not as bad as I made out. They aren't real vegetarians, just into very healthy food, but I'm afraid that I really do love the taste of "rubbish".

Good thing I've already had dinner! All this talk of food....hubby is out of town, but that doesn't stop me from strappin' on the ol' feed bag grilled a steak, had a baked potato and a salad. I'm a happy camper.
IslandBea: all the comedy writers in the U.S. have gone on strike. Your daughter could find a job! That is one funny comment!

Ok Tree Sheila, I got it. Now am feeling very sheepish. If Rayray saw this I'm sure I'd be the butt of another of his literary gems. So I'll say this on my defense. Baaaaaaah!

Bruins bit the dust again (with our 4th string QB)! USC won (against Cal) - this is a BAD football day. Next week it is Oregon then SC - we may not win another game.

November 11th is Veterans Day in the USA - In Canada & the rest of the British Commonwealth it is Rememberance Day. 11th day of the 11th Month at the 11th hour - a minute of silence is to be observed. This is the day and time of the signing of the surrender of the War to end all Wars (WWI).

As a child and teenager, we use to always wear Poppies on Veterans Day. Somewhere along the way in the US, I'm ashamed to say, this tradition has nearly disappeared. A few years ago I was in Victoria BC on Veterans (Rememberance) Day and everyone was wearing a poppy. I would love to see this tradtion brought back in the US.

I've updated my page in honor of Veterans (Rememberance) Day. With the poem: IN FLANDERS FIELDS. This is where the tradition of the Poppy came from. In memory of those who are buried there from WWI.

Memorial Day in the US was originally called Decoration Day. Because the graves of the fallen were decorated with flags and flowers.

Veterans Day (which was originally called Rememberance Day here also) now is a tribute to the service of all Vets of all wars. Including those who are currently serving.

The video on my U-tube is in honor of all vets.

I suggest that you also watch - take 2 minutes - it is a pittance of time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqQyelSgHh0
