The name of the place Kanahooka (see birthdays for today) has always made me laugh so I decided to look up how it got its name..and here is the result Kanahooka was named after Kana (King) Hooka, an Aboriginal chief. Kana Hooka was head of the Five Islanders, who were based near Hooka Creek

Nice balloon. We see them all the time over our house. We are on the flight path or something like that. A balloon ride is my goal for our 25th anniversary.

The following two 4x4 grids each contain a 12-letter word. Each word is formed by a chain of letters. A word can begin with any of the letters. The second letter of a word is adjacent (either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) to the first letter, the third letter is adjacent to the second, More...

They are building a house ''next door'' to us. It's currently and active construction side. The middle two aren't nearly as interested in it as I thought they would be given there fascination with heavy equipment every time we see it.

RIP Gordie Howe. Mr. Hockey passed away this morning at the age of 88. An icon for sport's hockey fans. You leave many of us with great memories of your achievements. Rest in peace.

I'm getting popular at school but not the way I like! I've had teachers wanting to be included in my volunteering list. Bother, that means twice as many classes to teach! Only way I can do it is to cut down from an hour to 45 minutes.

I am a somewhat ''casual'' hockey fan. If I recall correctly Gordie Howe retired, then came back several years later and played on a team with his sons. He certainly was a remarkable athlete.

Awww ... Gordie Howe ... one of my childhood sports heroes. Now only one remains ... Al Kaline of the Tigers. I have a hockey stick signed by Howe. My older sister was a competitive figure skater, and they practiced right after the Red Wings in the old Olympia Stadium. She handed him the stick and he graciously signed it! A good player ... and a good man. RIP, Gordie.

Good mAen, good people. Burl is having a great time in Bali. He's telling me how much it costs to rent a flat by the month there.

Meanwhile I'm having a frustrating time trying to build my dream pantry in the kitchen alcove next to my refrigerator.

I'm also hungry. We made a 9x13 lasagna Monday. I don't know what I've eaten since we finished that up. Don't want to cook. Kitchen is torn apart. And for some strange reason someone put the lettuce away in the freezer! Really? So I can't make myself a salad.

I ordered Hello, Dolly and Joe vs the Volcano from Amazon. They are supposed to be delivered today. Those are my weekend plans. Along with continuing to try to make this pantry business work.

Morning all, I love these balloons and like Lizzy would never go up in one.
We had a dream run yesterday with a tail wind plus hardly any traffic we arrived here at Wudinnia an hour ahead of time.

Hmm. 15 minutes have passed. I guess the people down under are enjoying their Saturday night unplugged. I have a question to ask of Brisbane and Melbourne area people but I suppose it can wait until tomorrow or I can post on TOS.

I need to get going on errands before it gets too hot here. Air quality alert (stagnant hot humid air warning I asthmatics) says don't pump gas. Glad I have the second vehicle with enough in the tank for today's errands.
