If that doesn't capture sunbathing in the tropics ... ... stayed out too long.

That photo makes me dizzy, too.

Good Maen, all! Beautiful photo, but it doesn't evoke images of sunbathing to me. Our palms are still shivering from the cold! We have one more night of sub-freezing temps before it starts to warm up.

We're having a heat wave! It's 24℉ / -4.4℃ right now, and it's supposed to get up to 32℉ / 0℃ later today!!!!!

Mornin' Heidi, Re: yesterday.......

I gave you credit. Didn't think you were a "back to bed person". (Of ocurse, after early morning chores...

I am NOT a morning person...... but you can find me doing chores at 2 am.

That brings back memories of my time in the NAVY. Standing "mid-watches" (from 0000 - 0400). Not all bad. Usually really quiet and relaxed.

Jerry, I remember a lot of you '45ers' from the early 50's. I think I can still find a few souvenirs from that era.

June, wasn't it great growing up when "controls" were put in place by parents, NOT GOVT?

Not a lot of interest in yesterday's (and the day before) puzzle...

Answers:
1. 6080 F in a N M (feet in a nautical mile)
2. 9 = B S (Beethoven Symphonies)
3. 1 = R per Y of a T's L (rings per year of a tree's life)
4. 9 = C in a G of F (calories in a gram of fat)

Angie/Wisconsin got them all and Mo figured out 2 of them.

Well, Jerry, you have given me something to do ALL day. I don't know how many times I'm going to have to watch your offering before I don't end up with the feeling I missed something. Maybe I just miss those times.... Anyway, thanks for the memories

I worked on it, Kathy. Got 1 & 3. 2 & 4 ... complete blank. I'm not into sending in partial answers.

I thought everyone would have the most trouble with 3. Partial answers are fine! Sometimes all I get are partial answers!

I have just posted a joke to my page. It is NOT off-color, but is long and my offend some as being "ethnic." I would agree with that in that it does make fun of a certain government, but it is submitted solely to make fun of the type of c#ap we get from most any government these days. Do as you may...

Finally, a lovely gentle snow is falling. We've managed to escape the storms that surround us, but it's been darn cold. Too cold to sit on a chair lift ...

Morning. Quickish check-in. Mr P and I are thinking of hitting the road for a couple of days to go to some places we've never been before while he is still on holiday and I have days off between shifts.

HI all! Jane needs a riddle so here's today's one! Answers to the usual inbox please.
I hover out there in darkness unseen.
I will shred things to pieces 'till they're just smithereens.
I might serve as a gateway to places unspoken,
Yet I'm sealed off to man, forever unbroken.
I twist and distort, only darkness escapes,
I destroy all I find
Whatever I take.

Just mulling over what the heat is going to be like while we travel - Bloody terrible. But probably not much better if we defer for 24 hours. And the car does have good airconditioning.....

Go CP! It'll be fun and you know what they say about a change of air! Enjoy!

Everyone!
After a high of 43.6C (110F)yesterday, we had the highest overnight temp on record 33C (91F) Today will rise to 40C (104F) before a cool change mid arvo Tomorrow's forecast is for 23C (73F) Thankfully our heat waves do not last as long as the chills elsewhere in the World.

Gee! I hope the photographer was lying down on a lounge with a cocktail to one side!

Brrr Jerry! Send some rain this way. It's so humid I wish it would just rain properly and get it over with.

I am very bad at clearing out my emails ... if I don't delete on the spot when I reply, More...

Hi All
Christmas Visitors have left and I am back at work. Have done the puzzles when I had time but really didn't have time to read comments and post.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. I know I did.

1:57 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

It is a continuous thought really of why oh why can I not purchase an egg in the supermarket. I think I may hallucinate soon...can you eat surreal scrambled egg on surreal toast with a glass of surreal milk?...PANIC BUYING HAS TO STOP!! How can I make 'soldiers' to dip in no egg?

Anne, it is like a 'patch' of bad weather. What sort of patch? An eye patch, a cabbage patch, an elbow patch, a software fix?

Perhaps we should give three new weather terms...any takers?
12/Jan/10 10:04 AM
 |  |
why no eggs?

weather patch, cold spell, heat wave... Maybe we should just combine them and say we're having a weather wave.

(glad to see you posting, saylz.)
