Howdy yall,
i took a break from posting for awhile hoping that imitator would be gone soon, the last actual post that i made was this one

> Aleia From tx
Keith, ty, and you are right, it's just that i'm so new to here i didn't think anyone would stoop to doing such childish More...

Greg-I like piano lead Jazz. Muddy Waters started piano lead Blues in West Chicago I think. It was in Chicago for sure. I have a great album Hooker and Heat. Canned Heat and John Lee Hooker.
 |  |
Now you're talking my love, how about vocals, I liked Johnny Hartman and Sarah Vaughn best, not too many today that sign that way. Nancy Wilson and she'll be here Friday, and I have some local favs. Barbara Streisland is great and the Canadian one that's in Las Vegas, Senior moment prevents me from naming her, but I know Canut Greg will help me out, with his young, nimble brained self.

Ed: Obviously out of touch with Joni's latest endeavours. Can't beat Crosby, Stills. Nash and Youmng as a group. I was lucky enough to see there last performance as a group (before they split) in Toronto Varsiety Stadium. It had been raining most of the day, we were on the field, and just before More...

Post Script Ed: Dylan was a BIG part of the Travelling Wilburys.
 |  |
Mamacita, You have Josh Stone, Neil Diamond, who's latest album is so good.
Judy, S&G, and Paul Simon's solo stuff, great. CCR, Smokey, The Four Tops, The Temps, Supremes, Martha, you go girl. Maybe your hip after all. Maybe.
 |  |
Mamacita? Celine Deon?

Ed, I TOLD you Judy's got 'soul.'
 |  |
Mamacita: Are you referring to Celine Dion?
 |  |
Smoky IS/WAS the man at Motown for me. Loved Simon& Garfunkle as a duo, but loved Simon's work with the African musical group, another name that I can't recall. What about Sam Cook anyone remember him?
 |  |
Thank you Bert and Greg...yep thats who I was thinking about!
 |  |
Isn't it interesting thst us old timers all have the same tastes in music? Next thing you know we'll talking about Ray Conniff, Lawerence Welk, Count Basie... Lord, I must be getting old!
 |  |
Greg-Know that. Greg, I don't know much, music I KNOW.

Greg, If you like complex writing and playing, late Joni Mitchell is awesome. Just awesome. Get Hissing of Summer Lawns or Turbuleny Indigo. Also Miles of Aisles has Tom Scott and The L. A. Express. In the m's I love Moby and Morphine.

 |  |
Mamacita, yes, I remember Sam Cook and some of the others that have been mentioned. Even in the backblocks of Aussie we heard of a lot of them, but the British groups soon took over. And we had some great Aussie groups & singers.
 |  |
Soeey guys 'n gals but you'll have to leave me out of this one - I'm not into jazz. Judy and I have similar tastes it seems - I'm particularly fond of Celtic style music and Country and western.

Mamacita - I thought that you were referring to the Three (Now Four) Amigos as the Righteous Brothers - it does fit you have to admit.

just in from New Zealand,
'having a ball on train to greymouth, just pulling into arthurs pass in middle of alpine area. good flight flew over snow covered mountains.'
also was told 'Col if you cannot behave with the inheritance of the 'pig' while I am away then I will revoke your priviledges'

Oh, Mamacita! Sam Cooke's 'Change is Gonna Come' is classic. 'think I'll throw in the Malcolm X soundtrack now and give it a listen.

Can anyone name the members of The Travelling Wilbury's?
 |  |
What a trip down memory lane to read all those names. My favorites were Dylan, PP&M, Joan Baez, The Limelighters, Simon and Garfunkle, then I got drawn into the Beatles and the Stones. Jazz I liked Miles Davis, Ramsey Lewis Trio, Montgomery, Monk. But I also had a fondness for Pete Seger, the Weavers, Dave VanRonk, and Doc Watson. There's probably others that aren't coming to mind.
 |  |
Aleia, You have arrived very quickly. When others start posting as you or start picking, take it as a compliment and ignore the rest. Well folks, its been fun going down musical lane with you, but the witching hour is almost here, so I'd better turn in before my coach becomes a pumpkin. Have a More...

Lou Rawls, And who sang about that dock?
 |  |
Can't beat Simon and Garfunkle for harmony Mamacita. Right up there with the Righteous Brothers. Too bad they split, but Paul has done wonders solo.
 |  |
Otis Redding?
 |  |
I know the Traveling Wilbury's had Dylan and Orbeson and Petty. Not sure about anybody else.
 |  |
Had to come back .... to those who remember Sam Cook ....Rock on!! Keith and Hugh thanks for the health updates, glad things are improving! Anne, next time you have to tell us about some of the Aussie favs. Most go for real now! Peace
 |  |
Dock was Otis Redding.
 |  |
George Harrison was one of the Wilbury's
 |  |
Ed: The Travelling Wilburys were made up of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne (of E.L.O. fame). An awesome group with awesome sound.

 |  |
Keith,
I know we could hang brother. Dave Van Ronk, Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot, Woody and Arlo. Saw Doc and his son in Phila., with (oh s**t)I'm to old for this much thinking. He did that song about the belly dancer. Drove men crazy. HELP.
 |  |
Mamacita, sleep well,

i been reading about the music and all, but i'm not that into who does what in the music, when i was a kid my mom liked country music and dad like rock & roll, so i got a taste for both, but as i grew up my type of music changed, and was only southern gospel for many More...
 |  |
Correct Greg, Keith and Hugh. AS I would have expected. All for one and one for all. Unless the s**t really hits the fan.

Ottis Redding, how sweet he voice was.

The Travelling Wilburys are awesome people also. George was always my favorite Beattle.
John had one of the best R&R More...

Aleia,
Different is beautiful not odd.
 |  |
Hugh, I too love Celtic music (William Colter is my favorite). My most recent and very long lasting music love is instrumental guitar, mainly classical (Williams, Bream, Parkening, Segovia, Fisk, Barrueco). A few groups I forgot in my previous post are Ian and Sylvia, Santana, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash, the Mamas and the Papas, and James Taylor.

Talking about me?
 |  |
HazelNutCoffee: If we were all the same, it would be a boring world!!!
I grew up with a much older brother (15yrs) and sister(13yrs), listened to their music of the 50's and 60s, as well as the ones I grew up with the 70's and 80's etc. I listen and like most (just about all of the ones listed already), just not the heavy metal/rock music.
 |  |
Ed, ty very much, ;-)

Rola, yeah i understand, my brother got into that heavy rock stuff, and thanks, lol i have always been different than those around me, and never really fit in, 'cause most people would be able to talk about stuff in common like yall been doing here, but since i'm different i have nothing much to say about normal subjects,

Aleia

Aleia, I often feel that way with my current focus on classical guitar. Nobody else is interested. Doesn't bother me at all, or make me feel left out.
 |  |
lol maybe instead of my nick being coffee, it should be > a blacksheep < or > ever the blacksheep < haha,,,

Ed: How could anyone not like/remember Mama Cass. She died too young. Always enjoy hearing Dream a little Dream of Me. Another great we've all forgotten is Stevie Wonder. How can you beat his heart and soul?
