Your blowing the rain here has paid off.
Finally we've got some decent rain here at the moment !!!

Danny from North Coast BC, your weather description back on page one was a stunner. I suppose I knew but hadn't realised the implications of living so far North. I don't think I could cope with too much darkness but I'd love the inverse of it. In Southern Tasmania in mid January, the light faded at More...

Suzanne, oh please don't get sick! Ed, Carol & I are looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. Please call me when you get to FL. Do you still have my phone number?

Are there ANY OTHER Floridians who can join us for a Sudokuholics Anonymous meeting in Punta Gorda Sunday evening at 6:00 P.M.? The more the merrier. Details on my page.
 |  |
Kathy/Valrico: I'd love to join you SA Floridians, but we have out-of-town guests. Please have another gathering soon. Have a great time in Punta Gorda.

Did you have to blow so hard though Susan!! I have to go to a kid's party this afternoon in a park - and the mother refuses to call it off or change the venue. Could be very miserable with all this rain.

Like you, Tess, I find it hard to comprehend the sort of weather conditions that Danny and many others have referred to, especially when we're in mid-summer and sweltering! I'm fascinated by the idea of the all-day darkness and midnight sun that happens in the very far north, but I doubt that I'll ever get to experience it.

There's an amazing story in today's papers about Ewa Wisnierska, a German paraglider pilot, who was caught up in a storm cell over Manilla New South Wales on Wednesday. She was rocketed to an altitude of 9946m - the cruising altitude of a Boeing 747 - where temperatures were as low as -5o C. At More...
 |  |

That temperature was -50c, not -5c.
 |  |

Judy, I saw the story too. But I was wondering, how does she (or anyone) know how high she went? I heard 30+k ft (~10k meters). Was she picked up on any radar system?
 |  |

According to 'The Age', Ian, her track log, 'a flight trajectory downloaded from her GPS handset and altimeter, recorded her top altitude at 9946 metres.'
 |  |
Interesting, thanks.

to jokester from jokebox ;I'm afraid your going to have to change the age of your 'agedAround here 80+ are still runing around strong and 90 year olds have told me their just now starting to feel old.
 |  |
Corrections: A period after 'aged'.
running instead of runing
...told me they are ... instead of their

islandbea/BC Canada - thank god for that, I was getting worried about my impending old age.

and now a little something with more 'oh really?' rather than 'Ha ha'

Of course we all know that The Algonquins (or Algonkins) are an aboriginal North American people speaking Algonquin, an Algonquian language. Culturally and linguistically, they are closely related to the Odawa and Ojibwe, with whom they form the larger Anicinàpe grouping. The Algonquin peoples call themselves either Omàmiwinini (plural: Omàmiwininiwak) or the more generalised name of Anicinàpe.

hey jokester..that was something different!!and i really exclaimed 'oh really'....good work..keep them coming..
cheers

Spidergirl - couldn't help myself, but here is an ode to you and your marvellous talents. Not sure if the last verse is politically/socially correct though. I'm sure we all know the tune...so sing along:

Spins a web, any size, More...

my apologies greg for my incorrect sentence yesterday.
It should have read ...
did the earthquake move you this morning?
sorry for any misinterpretations.
 |  |

Hi all, I'm back in Canberra and at work. Had the same defintion for naufragas as some others (no female wind!).
 |  |
Isn't that 'Omàmiwininiwak' a line from the song 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight'?
 |  |

Same here greg, thought it might amuse a few with my 'mistaken' sentence!

Suzanne from Seattle, I live in Hoquiam. Bodies, the exhibit lasts until either the end of Feb. or the end of March??? You can look it up on the internet. It is on Pike St. I just left a message on your page with more info.

I'm sorry I can't remember who I was talking to last night (lousey memory)??? I think it was when I was talking to either Helena or maybe Susan from Ingram or ???. It was about 'Bodies, the Exhibit'. I looked it up on the internet. In case anyone is interested, it will be in Sidney starting on More...

Hugh, I printed off your romantic Valentine poem tonight to share with my workmates. There was much hilarity but a general consensus of 'woe betide any man who actually sent it to one of us!!!'
