OK - Ask me a Sudoku Question!

Submitted by: Gath

Indicate which comments you would like to be able to see
Pete...The answer to that will be 'It was God's will'. So I agree with your point about prayer being pointless. If a person survives it was the prayers to God, if they don't it was God's will. Prayer is just a lot wishful and powerful thinking for the outcome that we would like. In reality, it is what the Dr's can do, how fit the patient is to fight whatever is the problem and positive thinking.

let us all just agree to be peaceful and send happy thoughts to one another; this is not the forum for ugliness.
 |  |
And I apologise to all of those who are thinking 'here she goes again' but 'there I went again' because a question was asked. I am also interested to hear the answer as to why Pete's brother had to leave.

The girls on the beach look like they're ready for spring break! Lots of destinations are gearing up for the onslaught of college-age folks in the next month or so!

Pete: I'm sorry for the loss of your brother - I feel that God answers all prayers, but not necessarily with the answers WE want.
 |  |
Pete, my deepest simpathy sincerely goes out to you and your family. It is a very hard thing to lose someone so young. Sometimes God's will just isn't exactly the same as our will. I still feel the power of prayer is strong.

What's a tamale? I have seen a reference to them on 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. Something like an eclair?
Still down the coast with Nicole and Kiarah, heading back this afternoon.
 |  |
Right, so the answer may not be what we wanted it to be. Therefore, why ask in the first place. Obviously whatever is going to happen WILL happen so pointless in asking for whatever it is that we would like....Is that it???
 |  |
I agree with you Karen.
I also think the girls in the picture do look like sisters, or at least close relatives.

On a more educational note, If anyone gets a chance to go see 'Bodies, The Exhibit' (or whatever it is called in your country), I went yesterday in Seattle, Wa. and it was really great! I learned a lot. My daughter says that she now looks at her body in a whole new way. I didn't see a single person that wasn't very interested in every exhibit.
 |  |
LynnDee, If we don't know God's will, or if we think that there is 'God's will', then what is the point of us asking him for anything? If everything is pre-determined by God, then there is no reason to pray.

Thanks, I think, Deb!

'Bodies, The Exhibit'
An exhibition starring real, skinned human corpses arranged in poses—a soccer player in mid-kick, for example—is drawing record- breaking crowds and controversy.
Fetuses and a cigarette smoker's tarred lungs are among the 20 corpses and 260 body parts on display.

I wish I had the citation to quote, but I know that there has been research showing the power of prayer, even when the prayers and the prayed for did not know each other.
That, of course, does not answer Pete's question about his brother (or my 10-year-old cousin or my 23-year-old sister), but....
 |  |
''Prayer'' is a pretty generic term, and does not necessarily imply any particular religion's tenet or deistic belief at all. ''I pray thee, M'Lord, to forgive my failure to pay your Lordship's rent.''

Not to trivialize, but I've often prayed for a horse to win, and no religion or belief in More...

Pete: You need to look at something called 'The Consolation of Philosophy' by Boethius. I think it was about the fifth century when this argument was first engaged, and had to do with Free Will and predestination. Boethius resolved the dispute by positing that time itself was a divine creation, More...

A man and a friend are playing golf one day at their local golf course. One of the guys is about to chip onto the green when he sees a long funeral procession on the road next to the course. He stops in mid-swing, takes off his golf cap, closes his eyes, and bows down in prayer.

His friend More...

My one and only comment on prayer and support
For those who take solace from using prayer to help them cope with all sorts of life situations that is so good to have something to help you through those times.
For those that dont find prayer or religious beliefs helpful in their life then More...

SMART ASS ANSWER #3

The cop got out of his car and the kid who was stopped for speeding rolled down his window. 'I've been waiting for you all day,' the cop said.
The kid replied, 'Yeah, well I got here as fast as I could.'
When the cop finally stopped laughing, he sent the kid on his More...

Lynn Dee and Pete, pretty heavy stuff for a puzzle site, but OK, I'm weighing in. God isn't a vending machine. Some things are bigger than what we want. Jesus asked asked God to spare him Calvary-perfect life, perfect faith-and God said no. The destiny of all mankind was bigger. I'm sure Jesus' More...

To some this may appear quite pathetic but I suffered a great loss last week. My beloved guinea pig died under the anaesthetic of what should have been a routine teeth trim. I don't know why it happened. My family have grieved over the last week, (despite him only being a rodent), he had become a More...

Wow, am I glad I dropped in this evening instead of grading papers! I certainly feel cheered up.
Anyway, I have the latest greeting from Gus on my page for anybody interested.
Now, I AM off to grade papers.

Of course. It was a fitting rejoinder to my references to ''he didn't cause it.''

Rosemary your comments were just what were needed to bring all the different 'beliefs' into focus. I totally agree with all you had to say.
And Sue, losing a pet is still losing part of your 'family' and very sad for all concerned. All pet lovers have been there.

A great time was had by all at the Celtic Ray. Nice to see Suzanne again and meet Carol for the first time. Victoria sent a suprise package to Kathy to be shared by all. We are all grateful to Victoria for her kindness. In the future I hope to meet many more of my Sudoku friends.
