WARREN: I try to call my mom about every two weeks - dad died in 2001, but two of my sisters live much closer and are in touch daily. My own kids call me almost daily and call my hubby almost as often. His parents both passed away in 1996, so all he has left is a sister in Florida, and they talk weekly. Are you noting a pattern in those who chose to respond to your question?

WARREN: forgot to mention e-mails back and forth between daughters and ourselves. They're great when you don't have time to talk or know it's not a good time to call, especially with different time zones.

WARREN I have 3 grown kids and one still at home. I talk to the grown ones at least 4 times/week each. If they don't hear from me, I hear from them. My parents both passed away, but I would call my Mom about 4 times/week also. We don't have to talk long, just long enough to see how they are and say I love you...can't say that often enough!

Mickey - watch a hilarious comedy show -- it really worked for me with my second child.

Warren, weighing in with another opinion on the parent/child contact thing - I have a cousin who never got on with her mother from a very early age, but when she moved away from home (from California to Boston) she phoned at least once daily. I was never sure what that was all about... I'm not sure they get on well even to this day.

MICKEY: the only thing worse than waiting for labor to start is having false labor and being sent home from the hospital, still pregnant! Happened to me with my second child. With the third, I almost waited too long! Good luck!

My heart breaks reading these comments on parent child contact. All I ever wanted to be was a mom and have a happy family. I was blessed with 4 beautiful daughters aged 19 to 26. The second and fourth don't talk to me. My heart is broken.
I feel I will invite scorn if I say that the problems More...

I moved my mom closer so I could help her do things. She nows lives down the street. I see her daily. Our daughter lives 90 min. away and we talk to her most days and see her about 1 time a month. My husband talks to his mom a couple times a week and sees her at least once a week.
