Celebrate heartily, Australian friends!

Pouring rain here this morning, then sunshine, now clouds again, with temperatures set to drop later tonight. Snow coming, maybe? Please?

Fiona, inbox takes time, but no other dramas. I have the pages I want up as separate tabs, makes it a lot easier, but when flicking from puzzle pages, I just do it from this tab with no problems.

I had a good clean out of the system and it seems to have quickened things up!! And before Judy jumps in on that one - I cleaned out THE system, not MY system.

Hi Fiona,

No problems moving around from my end. My inbox opens quickly, though it might be different if I had a lot of messages. All pages load in about half a second.

It takes a bit longer to load the SA pages, but even then it is only 2 secs. Send some details of what is taking all the time & I will investigate it for you.

Happy Australia Day Aussies, or is it Foundation Day, or Anniversary Day or Protest Day? How many of our few remaining Aussies celebrate this day by a different name? Just curious.

Having experienced 4th of July celebrations whilst living in Hawaii, I'd have to say that Australia Day celebrations have been much more low key for Aussies until the last several years. For many, it used to be that the day just meant a long weekend, as the Monday around Australia Day was the More...

So, my belief is that it is only since we embraced January 26th as THE day, that we have started to really celebrate it with some vestige of nationalism.

Thanks for the lyrics of "I am Australian", Rolanda. As I read them through I realised that, while the song (which I love) acknowledges the Aborigines as the first Australians and those who came as convicts, free settlers, gold diggers, etc, in the first hundred years or so of European More...

And yes, I acknowledge that the Aboriginal people of Australia call it Invasion Day, but I also believe that no matter which day (white) Australia chose as its national celebration day, it would have the opposite meaning for the original inhabitants of this "wide, brown land".
