Ha, you have to be ready for the date change, not in the middle of a spider solitaire game. GannieMo, I usually play the middle difficulty. The easy is too easy and the one with all 4 suits impossible. It's weird but I do better on my laptop than my desktop. Anyway just want to say hello to More...

2:03 Hi to all.

Thought for the Day:

I love a hand that meets my own with a grasp that causes some sensation.

GannieMo ... My Dad brought home our first TV Christmas of 1950 or 51. In 1952 we moved from Buffalo New York to Toledo Ohio because Dad got a new job.

56 years ago I was living in Colorado Springs with my first husband. We lived in the city limits in an apartment that has electric, but the toilet was outside and I had a wood burning stove. I hated it . I was born in San Francisco in an old Victorian (1891) house. It had two bathrooms and five bedrooms.

everyone! Nice to see you all this fine Monday morning. It's going to be a beautiful sunny day here. Glad we had some rain over the weekend.
Must have toughened feet on those soccer players!

It had a bare bulb. I live in four places in Colorado. None of them was modern even in those days.

andré ... and speaking of Dad's. My Dad taught me early, very early that a firm, sincere handshake was very important.

Now Dorthea, I know you were not born in 1891!!!!
03/Jun/08 12:33 AM

1891??? No! Hopefully it was her house that was!

Now, Dave... be nice!

Dave the house the house. I'm not quite that old. My mother was born in 1881. Your can guess, but I'm not telling.

The reason I asked was because June 2nd 1953 (I know it is actually 55 years ago) was Coronation Day in UK and in our house Mum and Dad and a near neighbour all got together to hire a TV so we could watch the ceremony, in black and white of course. Mum made a cake and decorated it with a coach and More...

I think all this sorting and packing is going to my head. I keep unearthing items that conjour such memories. Or is it my long term memory overtaking the short term?

André - a firm hand shake is wonderful. I don't like wet fish ones or bone crunchers

I remember the coronation, but I saw it in a news reel. I have seen it on TV since then. I also remember seeing my first TV in 1939 at the fair in San Francisco. They had a camera focused on the people as they came into a building and you could see yourself on the TV screen.

I was wondering what had happened that was newsworthy internationally in 1952. I was a freshly minted teenager enjoying becoming a first time aunt, and trying to find cute boys that would put up with the inquisition they would have to go through at my house just to sit on the porch with me...... ahhhhh, parents!

I won't say another word ... I'll go off to the naughty corner.

I wasn't born... that could account for me having no memory of 1953...

In 1952 I was dealing with an active two year old. I'm still trying to deal with him.

Can't say I remember anything about 1952, but I'm told that's the year I was born!!!!!!!!!!! Enough said! Got a call from my husband a while ago (he's en route to Vancouver for business). Flew to Hongkong yesterday to go to China today. They almost wouldn't let him in even though he had a valid More...
