Why do you have to take the pump out of the fish pond?

Lynda: If you tried to sue me for breach after a proposal you would fail to succeed. It would be like getting blood out a stone - in the sense that a stone contains no blood at all.

Lynda: The pump has to be brought in to prevent frost damage - the water expands when it freezes and would blow the pump apart.

Also when water expands on freezing it floats because ice is less dense than cold water. That is why ice forms on pond surfaces not at the bottom. if the ice was at the bottom the fish would be deep-frozen.

The fish just fall asleep when it gets cold. they stay 'motionless' in the weeds and they don't need to go to the toilet either

We don't have problems with freezing here, more with evaporation. Our fish are being stalked and eaten by a Nakeen Night Heron during the night and Kookaburras during the day. We can only have floating weed as the Koi destroy pots. They are not really relaxing at all, a bit or a worry really.

No Sharlene, all is well, although I was getting a bit lonely. How is the son with the elevated temperature?

Finally the temp is close to normal... Typical 6 weeks school holidays and fine. 2 days back to school and they come down sick. I dont mind he is a wonderful child and a pleasure to spend time with - even when sick.
All good now. Still cannot get on the normal way

Just updated the page b4 and was put on to 21 january. I read 3 pages of chat b4 I noticed the date was wrong.
We must be moving again,.. anyone know whats happening.

Only 8 pages does not sound normal so maybe there is troubles with the site. I used a link given on the 21st Jan then just went through next page until I got up to date. Couldnt get thruough any other way.

Can't say I have had any problems, although not many around. So pleased to hear your son is recovered. Best time to be ill that way you get a longer holiday.

I have been so busy this week with the back to school regime. Oldest was very stressed out as his friends were not in the same class and he got the teacher he didnt want. I suppose this is why I didnt notice his illness coming on.

The right teacher is very important. Has he got to put up with it or is there a way he can move classes?

He is apparently a very good teacher- just a bit grumpy in the playground. I dont care about that as I hear she gets results. My son is very intelligent and a great student so he will settle down and realise she is OK. I think his stress and the illness at the same time just got the better of him.. He will do well.
