Jerry, I think you must be included in the
Vast Personal Smilies (Smiles!) Collectors Club!
I, on the other hand, belong to the Let's Just be Satisfied with Borrowing Gath's Smilies Club

Or, Kathy, you could admit that, like me, you just don't know how to add smilies ... LOL

Whew, glad I didn't hit Submit just a little sooner. That might have ruined Jerry's TOPP.

Judy, I did have some personal smilies (Ebony as a puppy, etc.) a LONG time ago. But then I inadvertently let my Supporting Member status run out & never started it up again. Not sure I could remember how I did those smilies, though?? I'd probably have to go find the tutorial someone added to Forums??? Come on, you're a smart Wolverine gal - I challenge you to figure it out!!

You and I need to attend Remedial Smilies 101 ... I think that we're just age-challenged ...

Judy, I'll sign up if you will! I also need a class on Windows 7 which Rob has just added to my computer. I am struggling to learn new ways of doing everything. I know, I know - it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks

We're off to Kyley's house to help finish painting the interior before she goes back to her teaching job tomorrow. She's had a pretty miserable Thanksgiving & Christmas break after all the complications from her thryoid surgery, but now at least she can be happy that her rooms look fresh & pretty to start off the new year.

It actually got down to 37F last night! Very chilly for us! Today and tomorrow we stick close to home. My wife preps for a colonoscopy today and I prep for my colostomy surgery tomorrow. Nothing but clear liquids for both of us!

I am a bit nervous about the surgery, but confident that my More...

Glenn - I hope your surgery goes well! Good Luck to your wife also!

Thanks for the best wishes! I can remember hitting -40 or lower in Minnesota several times while going to college there. Centigrade or Fahrenheit - same difference!

One night the weather instruments in the basement of the science building indicated that the wind chill was -99 F - the scale did not go any lower than that! I got a slight case of frostbite on the tip of my nose walking across the parking lot back to my dorm. It was the only skin not protected by multiple layers of clothing and goggles!

Oh my goodness, Glenn!!!! I can't imagine such severe weather! That is very cold! We had a couple of weeks of -20 weather about 17 years ago when I was driving my children to school. It was terribly cold. I made all five of my children carry blankets with them. We only had about 10 miles to go, but I thought if we ever had car trouble or slid into the ditch they would freeze!

Debby - you need to always have emergency supplies in your car in extreme cold weather. We used to always carry blankets and candles to keep warm - and matches, of course. A lit candle in the dash can be seen in the dark by snow plows and will provide life saving warmth. You have to keep a window More...

Well, it's warmed up to 16F here, but it still feels cold.

Well we did not get as cold as the northerners last night but cold enough for me. We did get another 3 inches of the white stuff, the last snow had not all melted. They are saying that it will be cold all week and snow againg later in the week.

Doesn't everyone carry at least one blanket in their car? I do and I live in sunny southern California! Plus I carry a pair of running shoes as well, just in case of mechanical problems or I arrive somewhere where it looks great for a running exercise!

Glenn, I will put an extra wish that you recover quickly!!! I'm sure you will because we'll be missing you while you're not incapacitated but not reachable by internet!

Oh come on now, Kathy and Judy, you can! If I in my fumbling ways can manage some smilies, you with sharper wits can do better! I know my smilies are not the best, cut off in some parts but I tweaked the best I can do! I think the real reason you don't have a lot of smilies is that your social life is way tooooo busy!!!

btw, it is also cold here. In the mid 40's and the sun shining. The prediction is for some very cold (for us) weather latter in the week. Hope the supply of firewood lasts. It is going down faster than we anticipated.

It is 'chicken and dumplings' or 'chocolate and churros' cold here! I went to the zoo and the orangutans were trying to cover themselves! It's cold!!!!!

Good afternoon to all! Interesting photo. Too bad it didn't capture the people constructing the tower, on rickety ladders, hanging in space, daring death in the face, testing the possibly of being the first to make use of the tower.

Ha. I can post a colder low temp from last night than any of you. At 8 a.m. this morning it was -8 F here (-22 C). It may have been colder a few hours before that.

Cold weather? Mid 40s? 16F? 37F? It has been snowing here constantly since December 30th. Blue moon on New Years Eve? Forget it. Cloudy and snowing. Temperatures? Minus 24C without the wind chill. Welcome to Canada!

Judy - your story about bears carrying off thistle socks at night gave me such a mental picture. I certainly wouldn't want to be a camper on that ridge, sleeping in a well-used sleeping bag with a bag of peanuts in my pj pockets.

Ole and Lena were sitting down to their usual morning cup of coffee listening to the weather report on the radio. “There will be 3 to 5 inches of snow today, and a snow emergency has been declared,” the weather report said. “You must park your cars on the odd numbered side of the streets.” Ole More...

Ok, Plum you get the booby prize for the most freezing temperature! It's been ages since I built a snowman. After an hour or two, I was ready to get back into the car with the heater going full blast!!! My sons were fine out there, I was shivering in the car!

Thanks. We like Calvin & Hobbs and snow sculptures here.
Yep. It was cold even at 10 a.m. when we went to church. We ran the car for 10 minutes before we left and I still appreciated holding a travel mug of hot yerba mate in my hands on the way.
Now it's up to a balmy 23 F (-5 C). I sure am looking forward to all those bulbs I planted.

Happy New Year everyone. I must thank everyone for their wishes over the last few weeks. It is much appreciated. x

Sadly my old dishwasher - Wanda Washless Werthington Whilemina Woebegone passed away after a long battle with '3 in one' tablet cleaners. Her rinse aid no longer rinsed and her top spray became a trickle, so with great reluctance I had to turn her off. A great sadness as you can imagine. It left me More...
