I'm pleased no one noticed (or were at least too polite to comment) that I said Sam Stosur's next match was Saturday morning. It was a surprise to wake up this morning to hear she had won. Home from work tonight to watch the replay.

Goodness me, I had just written but thankfully not submitted, that it was the last of my grandchildren's birthdays today with Bailey turning two.
My grand-daughter Hayley would never forgive me forgetting her as she turns ten next week. Old age!!!

Hello Doug, no, they're cousins. Hayley belongs to my daughter up north who has three girls, and Bailey belongs to my daughter in Albany who has two sons. My son also has two boys.

Back to say all is well - don't have to repeat the performance for 5 years this time.

Procedure done at a place I previously worked in the procedure room.

I told the doctor's nurse (also his wife) that I'd really rather not meet them this way - could we have coffee in Manuka instead?

Oh, and BTW, call me a masochist but I have my colonoscopies done without sedation (or pain relief) - and survive!!

Pain is no worse and much more transient than a bad bout of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

I have a greater fear of not remembering what happens when I am vulnerable and unaware than I do of the discomfort!

Maybe because I am totally familiar with what the procedure involves, I am less worried than most people.

Also, I am a stickybeak, and find seeing my insides fascinating - and this way I get to see any polyps and where they are first hand.

So I'm not after a medal for bravery, just wanted to let you know it isn't as bad as most fear, and if you're like me more scared of being sedated, doing it without sedation is possible.

I forgot to say that when I got home and checked my letterbox, there was a rather large envelope in there. I had won a DVD of "Bran Nue Dae" in our local newspaper. I had only just treated my daughters to a copy each when it was released the other week.
