Still here - bubs is hanging in there - still not great but not at the hospitalisation stage yet(though I could probably do with the rest!). Up to checking up on me twice a week.

OK, I'll try again. i'm new to sudoku (like did my first puzzle 1 week ago) and I've previously asked if the puzzle solving technique is purely logical or is 'trial & error' accepted.

WOMBAT - the game is whatever you want it to be. Just play at your own pace and how you want to do it.

Thanks all for your replies.I've found that I seem to fairly quickly find 3 or so numbers by cross checking and box checking and also uncover a few sets of 'has to be's'.
