You are obviously watching a different channel to me Fiona. I'm off to bed. 'With 'that' tune ringing in my ears)

haven't got any French channels at the moment. Cables all there but haven't seen the artisan for a couple of weeks. Don't blame him, yesterday and today the upstairs wooden floors have been sanded. Wood dust rules. Tomorrow or Friday will be Xylophane days.....the camper calls, methinks

Fiona, I assume that TV show is a documentary outlining the historical decline of kettles in France!

Kitchen posers tomorrow - shame that only the plan de travail has been delivered so far. How the delivery company can say with a straight face - oh dear we made a mistake and forgot to put the cupboards on the lorry, fails me.

Right this minute it's about the Pinault collection in Venice - haven't seen a kettle there yet.

Greg, there can be no decline in kettles as the French in general have yet to grasp the concept of the need for boiling water, especially when making tea. It is no surprise that it has never been a popular beverage. I have been served with 'tea' made with luke warm water, or a cup of tepid water More...

How about Bonanza and, dare I suggest it, F Troop? Remember that we got them in Australia a lot later than the US. Still do!

I think the phrase - If it tastes ghastly it is good for you - hails fom France. They have this tradition of making 'tisanes' They take any kind (that's how it seems to me) of leaf or plant part. Steep it in water that has NOT reached boiling point then sip the resulting concoction. I shiver to my More...

I liked watching the BBC shows on public broadcasting "Back in the day," like Secret Agent Man (called Danger Man in UK) and its follow-up with Patrick McGoohan, the all-time cult classic series "The Prisoner." I had nightmares that big blob was gonna come get me!
And of course, Monty Python and Benny Hill!

Ian, from Boston, USA, if you are still about, today's Birthday List proves our point from Tuesday (I think)! Did I use enough, appropriate commas?

Okay, Anne and Fiona, I am always curious as to the time difference. It is 7:17am here in Oz on Thursday morning. Where are you guys up to?
08/Oct/09 7:18 AM

Sorry, Jim! Do you have your own interplanetary time, or is there a Jupiter in the US?
08/Oct/09 7:19 AM

6:34am here in Queensland. We don't "do" daylight saving because it fades the curtains and bothers the cows.

Jupiter is on Florida's east coast, about 90 miles north of Miami. Eastern Daylight Time here!
The lighthouse in Jupiter (shown) will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its first lighting on January 10, 2010.

Well Jim, they were all married in real life, but I liked Mary Anne.

Are we really listening to people from the UK criticize French cuisine?

Well, it's not unprecedented. During WWII, the SS sent dispatches back to Berlin, criticizing the Romanians for their unnecessary brutaliy and the unsanitary conditions in their death camps.

If you're going to provoke that kind of reaction from the SS, you must be doing something special...
