Oil Well!!!! 20 Years ago, you could see these operating in downtown LA - by 2nd & Lucas (near the first big clover-leaf freeway intersection - 101 and Pasadena/Harbor) - then they covered them up - probably still there. In the 20's there were 100's of wells operating in that area.

When we were there in the 80's Eve, I was amazed to see them in the city. This looks a more 'normal' siting.

I saw an oil well in L.A. last month (by one of the freeways). I was surprised to see it. Interesting to know there were lots of them there once.
