Nice dogs. Anyone going to claim them? I need another 19->51 type to boost my ego.

what do you all mean by the 20->23 type? this is the first tough i have managed, (2 hours) with only one guess. Can any one give any tips, I do not underdstand you codes!

Kirsty - 20->23 means that 20 numbers are filled initially then easy elimination gets another 3 numbers. At that point it is a bit more difficult to prove the next number, probably the point at which you took your one guess. Usually the proof consists of a cell or two where no matter which More...

What's all this crap about 'proofs'? If I can't figure it out on my own, then I don't see the point in doing it. This one took me 15 mins just eyeballing it.

Frank, took me 11:49 with no 'tools,' but when I started proofs helped me learn some not-so-intuitive logics. Beginners, hang in there, you'll get it.

I am beginning to learn to use the given = only 1-9 in each row and each block = to work out what goes where. this gives fewer guesses and faster times - probably elementary to all you quick numbers and logic whizes but I am improving.

mine was supposed to read 18:36 sorry. Getting very old but trying to stop memory loss!!! Not much hope!!

I didn't time myself this time. I think I like it better when I can just enjoy the game like that.

wow! I did it!! under 30 mins (reset timer but i know it was under 30...... was always good at maths at school 30 years ago) and only one guess. i must be getting better at last. didn't even have my son to help me this time. Was looking forward to the cute dogs. Can anyone tell me where this pic is from?

Hi Jimmy from Scotland - to reply to your questions the other day - some days you can just 'see' the right answers and others it's like you need a bottle of Irn Bru to help! No, seriously, Bruno's proofs are a big help and there are easier sudoko's some days than others! Hang in there, you get better with practice. Anyone tried the dodeka in the Times?

1) Take 05/09/24 grid.
2) Now move rows 123456789 (1=bottom!) on new positions 789456123
3) Now move columns abcdefghi(a=left!) on new positions bacdefgih. Do you begin to feel like déjà vu?
4) All that's left now is to renumber last grid's More...
