It looks like there were a lot of newbies in May of 2007. I made my debut on May 21, 2007, and CP and Elsie were the first two to welcome me on that date.

Glinda: was the wood nymph whispering, muttering, or both? This is important.

Why did the path have mismatched wool stockings?

Why were the swains and satyrs playing upon their pipes? I could understand if they were playing their pipes. (Although I have seen ill-behaved children playing upon a piano, until they were told to get down.)

Debbie, send some rhubarb pie this way. That is one thing we really enjoyed in MN and don't have here. I also tried making choke cherry jelly. Don't remember much except the cherries were wild and unfamiliar to us and jelled easily and That it seemed like making something out of nothing--which I am More...

Good morning all.
To all you Michiganians (-ites?,-ders?) - I had a pen-pal from Bay City, Michigan for more than 20 years - does that count??
ColoJim - loved the Wedding Dance. That couple know how to enjoy themselves.

Linda and I went to Mackinac Island, Michigan, once, in the late 1990s.

They had lots of fudge shops and ice cream cone parlors, and they all seemed packed with Americans and Canadians with (ahem) very ample posteriors.

The locals called the tourists 'fudgies' because buying a big More...

Any theories about that, Jim?

Dorthea -

When trifling with stockings and nymphery,
Admonishing swains for their frippery,
I'd never suggest or least not confess
To lapsing into Gilbert and Sullivanry.

André, I was curious to see if my state, California, had any ridiculous laws and lo and behold we had plenty!
Animals are banned from mating publicly within 1,500 feet of a tavern, school, or place of worship. (So if you have a promiscuous pet, keep it away from said places!)

If you happen to be in Chico, California, remember:
Detonating a nuclear device within the city limits results in a $500 fine.

If you're in Eureka, men who wear moustaches are forbidden from kissing women.
In Fresno, elementary schools may not host poker tournaments.
In Hollywood, it is illegal to drive more than two thousand sheep down Hollywood Boulevard at one time. Remember that, Rayray!!!

Ladies, you're going to love this law, in Los Angeles, it is illegal for a man to beat his wife with a strap wider than 2 inches without her consent.

Ian, my theory is there may be some sort of direct correlation between three pound slabs of fudge, quadruple-scoop ice cream cones, and ample posteriors.

Perhaps a grant could be issued, stimulus money for Mackinac Island. Free fudge & ice cream to all who fill out questionaires full More...

Oh well, one more for a cp another stupid law.
San Francisco prohibits elephants from strolling down Market Street unless they are on a leash.
01/May/09 12:28 PM
 |  |

Personally, I have no problems with leashed elephants walking down my street.

But UNLEASHED elephants??!?! There outta be a law!
01/May/09 12:39 PM

Understood, Jim, and irrefutable.

Any theories about the fewer numbers of posts?

01/May/09 12:59 PM

Ok, Jim, how about this law: It is illegal to pile horse manure more than six feet high on a street corner. Belongs to San Francisco. I'd have a problem with any amount on my street corner!!! Now you can imagine the amount an elephant would leave behind. You'd need a huge garbage bag and a shovel when you walk your elephant!!!
