If I marched out of the house nude, the neighbors would need more than a cold beer to survive the experience, Jim!

Three things made me 'smile' (rather than laugh) today:
1. Negative biopsy result
2. Finding amalgam fillings are not as dangerous as I thought they might be
3. The earthmover that rolled over will be back in action by Monday

Ray, a negative biopsy result is a very good reason to smile.
ps Glad the driver of the earthmover wasn't hurt.

Yes, I smile about the biopsy, Gail; and the driver had already told me before the accident that the machine bounced him around quite a bit. He was shaken (in all senses of the word) but I understand he didn't even sustain any cuts or bruises. Lucky I think.

Three things that made me smile
Today - playing with my mad cat Nibbles
This week - looking at my youngest daughter's latest drawing last night, a popart Marilyn Monroe ala Andy Warhol(ish)
This month - Spending time with both hubby's and my extended family at two separate gatherings.

I called the Swine Flu hotline - all I got was crackling
01/Aug/09 5:55 PM

I heard that the first symptom is that you come out in rashers.
Another is that you get the trotts.

Apparently my mate's got Swine Flu, but I think he's just telling porkies!
01/Aug/09 5:56 PM

The only known cure for Swine Flu in humans has been found to be the liberal application of ‘oinkment’.

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none,
And this little piggy had influenza A virus subtype hemagglutinin protein 1 neuraminidase protein 1.

Does that make me a cp = cereal piggy?

3 things to smile about today

1 I woke up and was able to get up and go about my business.
2 The sky is blue and the sun shining.
3 My roses are blooming and perfuming the garden.

for Gail

Swine flu however, is not a problem for the pigs because they're all going to be cured anyway!
01/Aug/09 6:42 PM
 |  |

Swine flu has now mixed with bird flu. Scientists say they will find a cure when pigs fly.
01/Aug/09 6:43 PM
 |  |

Oh, Mo, where did you get them from!!!
They're all clean jokes so you didn't find them in the pigstye.

I had a long email this morning Anne

How are you, by the way
01/Aug/09 8:39 PM

I just heard on the news that, "Swine Flu could potentially be a threat to every single person in the world". Well it's a good thing I'm married then, isn't it?
01/Aug/09 8:40 PM
 |  |

This is not a time for panic. It is no pig deal. We've had hamdemic outbreaks before.
P.S.: IF YOU GET AN EMAIL ABOUT SWINE FLU DELETE IT ... ITS ONLY SPAM.

News Flash .... This just in. The world's religious leaders have issued a joint declaration that the Swine Flu pandemic is the start of the aporkalypse.

Doug if you don't laugh you cry and worry about something that may not happen. Less have died worldwide than died from ordinary flu last year in Great Britain alone.
It is being spread by people who insist on travelling, going to work and going on holiday even though they have the More...

GMo,
I tend to do what you suggest here -
"Stay at home, go to bed, drink lots of fluids, take aspirin/paracetemol, keep away from everyone and anyone"
- at all times, anyway, and irrespective of my condition of health
01/Aug/09 10:28 PM

Lol, Yes GMo,
At the supers, I always buy cured chicken. Not only was it well but it has immunity.
01/Aug/09 10:30 PM
 |  |
Now what sort of foolish advice is that? Keep away from everyone and anyone? We all know that people die all over the world from 'ordinary' flu however a lot of young people are dying from this flu, and this is Australia, where people do not ordinarily die from flu of any sort: and you seem to be More...

They've quarantined a pig farm in Western NSW because the pigs have caught swine flu fromthe humans. Duh.

We have things called 'sick leave'
01/Aug/09 10:45 PM

Why did they slaughter millions of chickens for the chicken flu and not the pigs for swine flu? Or is it just a name? Like Asian flu and Spanish flu?
01/Aug/09 10:48 PM
 |  |
Doug - What world are you in. Many people die each year with flu as a contributory factor in Australia as they do in the rest of the developed world. Keep 'em coming GMo.
01/Aug/09 10:53 PM
 |  |
GMo If that was a serious question, the pig flu had already mutated and crossed species whereas the bird flu had not crossed species and they were trying to prevent the virus mutating and that happening in case it developed really serious symptoms.
I don't remember the Spanish Flu of 1919 but some Spaniards must have survived because they still seem to be about.

I believe I have experienced swine flu during two past epidemics during my life and nearly died of it on all three occasions. It was not recognised then and there was little direct support. Pigs and mice are physiologically much closer to humans than birds - even than many primates.

Hello - back again, nearly 14 hours after my last post, of which I spent nearly 12 at work!

Was meant to start at 1300, but got a call at 0945 asking me to come in ASAP because the place had exploded!

Got to work at 1030, and left at 2200. Had lunch at 1500, and a bit of dinner at 1900, otherwise was flat chat. Spent 3 and a half hours in theatre, doing 2 C/S - or mostly waiting for them to be done!
