I hate to keep harping on the weather but continued flash flooding and more deaths down in Houston area forces me to mention it. The meteorologists said that a sign of 'global warming' would be more extremes not just more heat. Where there's drought, it would be worse; where there's rain, it would More...

Good Maen, good people. Burl is in Atlanta. Having found the gate where he will board his flight to Seoul in a couple hours, he is now looking for food. He may head back to that shrimp place he passed on his way to the gate.

everyone!
Sunny and a tiny bit cooler.
So very sorry to hear about the continued flooding and loss of lives, Wolf. Global warming is scary in either direction. I'd do a 'non-rain' dance if you think it'd help.

Plum, what is Burl's purpose for his visit to Bali? ...exotic woods? for his woodworking?

Here it's just before 9 AM. Going to be another hot one, just like yesterday. Today's picture is one of the stretched ones, suggesting it is an early submission. Anybody recognize who they are?

Ack! Got a dental appointment in an hour. I'm one of those who has a dental phobia dating back to my childhood! In my teens, I once had a terrifying nightmare of being caught and tied up by a witchdoctor for sacrifice. When he removed his huge mask, it turned out to be my dentist! Didn't think much of it but there were signs. One being tied to a dental chair!

Shosho, what a dental nightmare! Good luck at your appointment. P.S. I once had a dentist who had a poster on his ceiling, so when you tilted back in the chair, it read: Smile if you got any last night.

Well, Burl's 14+hr journey from Atlanta to Seoul is underway. Strange that it's going to fly back up over SW Michigan USA on its way! I wish it could have picked him up at a local airport this afternoon and saved us a nearly sleepless night last night.

Mostly it is a well deserved vacation for Burl because he loves active vacations pursuing his interests. He manages a commercial construction company but has a fine arts degree from college. So he does pottery and other artistic things - like woodworking, hence the Sudokuland nomer 'Burl.'

For Wolf.....

SAID HANRAHAN

'We'll all be rooned,' said Hanrahan,
In accents most forlorn,
Outside the church, ere Mass began,
One frosty Sunday morn.

The congregation stood about,
Coat-collars to the ears,
And talked of stock, and crops, and drought,

My father was a great orator... or should I say he just loved to recite wonderful poems and the like.
This was one of his favourites and I could hear him words echoing as I read this.
Haven't thought of this for years..thanks for the memories.
