Fiona has all the windows wide open, a cool breeze airing the house, no storm, just a light drizzle!! Enjoy Mo!! I had 43°C in the car yesterday, this is a wonderful contrast!

I agree. The front of the house I have open but the prevailing wind has a couple of kilometres free run out the back before it meets something solid, our back wall.
At least we will find out if the roofers temporary patching is working.

yes, it was! Kids finish school later today for six weeks. They emptied their lockers at school yesterday and dragged home every last bit of sharpened down pencil, scrag end of eraser, books, jotters, books and more books, papers, diaries, the lot, which I'm now trying to sort out. To bin or not to More...

The thunder has passed for the moment. My water butts are again half full and more. The air is beautiful and fresh. Now to go tie up the sweet peas, tomatoes and gladioli that managed to come loose and bow in the path of the wind.

School holidays! No more quiet shopping during school hours. Every store will have its share of parents who have to shop together as a family with push chairs children, old uncle Tom Cobbley and all.

Do IKEA in Europe have restaurants in their stores. In Sydney and Melbourne they do and the meals are so cheap that disadvantaged people/families go there just to eat. Seems a strange sales gimmick to me as these people cannot afford to buy anything.

Yes they do saylz. I don't know about disadvantaged but they do have very reduced prices for children and also specials. I think visiting there 'en famille' is the equivalent to some, of a day at Disney. The little ones are put in the play area full of those ball things and the rest seem to run More...

I was recently in another French furniture chain store and noticed that they too now have a one way 'race track' marked out so that to get from entrance to cash tills you have to pass through every inch of the store.

I've never set foot in an Ikea store - none around here, restaurants or otherwise!

I recently discovered a new sort of peach (ok we're a bit slow here in France) which is like a flat frisbee shape but smaller, so I googled 'flat peach' to see what they were really called. They're called flat peaches.

Why would anyone want a flat peach?
Does it have a little dome in the middle housing the stone?

I feel rather like a flat plum. Wish it was a weight-reduction-like thing.

Mo, flat peaches are a lot sweeter than the other round ones - and no, there's not a little dome in the middle - it actually sinks into the middle! You must try them.
