Just got back from a trip of hiking in the Smoky Mountains!
Hiked over 27 miles - some on the Appalachian Trail at 6,643 ft.
Climbing over 7,000 feet elevation change & back down 7,000 ft.
(Not all in the same day, though!)

Saw mother bear & 3 cubs in a tree 20 feet away from trail!
Waterfalls were fantastic because of the plentiful rain.
Learned that you can still hike when it's raining - beautiful!
Had sunny weather, too!

, Y'all. Shiela, you may have been close to me on your hike. The AT passes less than 4 miles from me. If you passed over Wayah Bald, you were within sight of my house. Hope you enjoyed the trek.

Good Maen, good people. Up until last night I hadn't had a full night's sleep in a week. Too many long, full days culminating in a trip to the 4-H Exploration Days at the Michigan State University campus in Lansing, Michigan. Whew. It's a big campus with lotsa walking and lotsa stairs. I didn't More...

Captain J - it's just about impossible to travel somewhere in the US or Australia without coming close to a fellow Sudokuite. What a beautiful locale. I treasure memories of our vacation in WV, NC and TN.

Off to take kids to the WFRN's Friend's Fest. Then getting LP tanks filled. Then home to type out an updated Membership Packet and newsletter for my homeschool group - that part is going to take the bulk of my weekend. [We need to have a cross-eyed smilie to insert here.]

Vici - Exploration Days is 3 days, 2 nights on campus. Little Plum took 5 hours of 'Singing and Songwriting' and 5 hours of 'TV Production.'

My first 5 hours was 'Food Investigations,' learning how to produce a Junior-chef type program for 4-H clubs to emphasize locally produced foods and More...

We had county delegation 'huddles' after 11 p.m. and 'silence in the dorms' was reluctantly enforced after midnight. The louded train I have ever heard came through East Lansing at 5:30 each morning. Yikes.

Mornin' all Y'all.

Max update: From 7 1/2 pounds in mid-December, when he showed up to 61 pounds, last week. He is 27 inches at the shoulder, and is a ''seriously rambunctious child''. I'll get pics up 'Bum-Bye'.

all. Finally today we are having a nice leisurely day after spending the rest of the week going to various dr.'s appts. all over the place including Tampa! We were so grateful for the meals a couple of our friends brought to our house. It was nice to get home late in the afternoon & not have to worry about what to fix for dinner!

Since Shiela & Plum have both posted today (Welcome back from your trips!), I am hoping maybe they will check back later. I want to ask them & any other Michigan residents including Debby, Nancy & ?? if they might be willing to come to a Sudoku meet up in Ann Arbor on Sunday afternoon, July 14? More...
