Can someone who knows about AFL, please explain the following to me: why was Ben Cousins not banned from footy like any other person who has been found positive for drugs is? How rife is drug taking in footy?
Why are sports like tennis and golf not associated with drugs??

I believe a lot of 'sports stars' are paid way too much, have too much time on their hands and no direction to their lives other than being 'sports stars'. I think it is happening in many sports just as taking illicit party drugs is rife throughout the community.

The other unfortunate side effect of this whole 'drug' scandal is young children who idolise their heroes. It is said often that teen boys who are kept busy with sport and hobbies will not turn to drugs......but how about if they see their heros playing elite sport and winning coveted medals whilst being dope heads? - will they still have the same 'SAY NO' mentality?

Also - These drugs are recreational. With performance enhancing drugs (i.e.steroids) (i.e. Justin Charles) - first positive test = rubbed out.

It is also possible that there is a super sensational masking agent out there to fool the recreational test results.

seriously Eddie - 'footy' is the Australian slang for 'Football' . Australian Rules football - or in this case AFL Football (see Mel's original post)

The WCE were going to suspend Cousins without pay, but now report that they will continue to pay him $800,000 a year for NOT playing football...nice work if you can get it!
