Mamacita!! I am a prince!! LOL I think I am going to change my name. Actually, it does lead to some rather amusing misunderstandings at times.
 |  |
You almost made it, too.
 |  |
And you even rolled over the page.
 |  |
You know you're a redneck when......

1. You take your dog for a walk and you both use the same tree.

2. You can entertain yourself for more than 15 minutes with a fly swatter.

3. You think 'The Nutcracker' is something you do off the high dive.

4. The Salvation Army More...

Do the rest of you have to refresh the page to see new commments, or do your computers refresh when a new comment comes in?

JAMIE: You are THEE PRINCE! And first in line to be the KING of serial posters!

Two teachers here, too, but my husband went into administration, providing a slightly better retirement stipend. I didn't work that long, so when I retired last year, we didn't take a noticeable hit. You're welcome!! LOL
 |  |
OMG, Please forgive me Jamie....Of course you are a prince...That's what happens when I try to catch up with you 'young' folk.lol. JUDY, my grandaughter is still here so I have been in and out. The meanies have a long way to go to try to top some of the stuff I've seen over the years! At this point More...

Those are hysterical, WARREN. Jeff Foxworthy?
 |  |
Mama, absolutely no apology required. Mine is one of those names that give absolutely no clue. Glad you realized that 'young' is pretty relative in my case. More so than you, but not by that much. I tell my students that one reason I refuse to dye my gray beard is that I have earned every one More...

Jamie, I just see the additional comments if I go back a page. I'll see if I can just refresh it to see them. You know, bills come and they get paid, budget right and retire when you want. Thankfully When my kids finished college, We were finished paying, hard as it was we were able to pay More...

Good mAen. Loved the redneck jokes Warren. Weather is awful!! Rained all day yesterday and I had to sit at the fair for the Red Cross (not many people around). Today it is cloudy, HUMID, and cooler. Suppose to be hot and humid all weekend. Good thing I don't have a lot to do outside. More...

Mamacita and Judy, We have two kids in a private school (fortunately a great university that we are extremely happy with!) to the tune of about $25000 each per year. They both got pretty healthy academic scholarships to foot almost a third of that, but we are having to borrow the rest with them More...

Jamie, I use to tell my students the same thing about the gray hair. And yes I know using 'young' with you guys was a relative usage, but felt the use made my apology a little easier to take and make. lol. Refreshing the page wasn't as fast for me to see the new comments as leaving it an a prior page when I leave.

Wow, JAMIE, the price of a college education is sure going up! Our kids went to state universities, but both did their credentials and graduate work at private schools, so I understand what you're saying. Yours sound like smart kids! Do you want to keep the university name a secret? MAMACITA: More...

You may have a few years on us, Little Mama, but we strive every day to be as young in spirit as you are!!
 |  |
Judy, when my kids went tution was only about 7000.oo per semester, one went to a state school and one to a private school, the private one was just a little higher, so it was easier to pay monthly. Today, my grands are looking at 22000.-25000.oper annum...biggggg difference! My daughter is in the More...

ap: I love the school answering machine message! I will be passing it along to some of my kids' former teachers.
More later,

Mamacita and Judy, you are both right about the escalating costs. When I went to school, I could pay for everything (including living on campus) by working. No way to do that anymore.
Judy - they are both going to Texas Lutheran University. It has about 1500 students (2/3 the size of the high More...

JAMIE: It sounds like your kids are getting an excellent, well-rounded education. How far is the school from your home? Are your other two kids already out of school or on their own?
 |  |
Hobbes, Thanks for the tip on using the keyboard; it did make me go faster. But I am NOT ready to reveal my score. It is better than when I started but...!
 |  |
Judy - They are getting an excellent education. What is really great is that their classes are smaller than they were in high school. One day last fall Mary Evlyn's professor didn't start class until somebody called to find out why she was late!? lol They are a little over two hours away from More...

I think Hobbes basic secret must be some sort of incredibly quick synapses and vision that lets him see more of the entire picture than I can see. I doubt if I could 'think' the numbers into the squares that I could approach Hobbes' times. I am very impressed (actually my times make me impressed with most of those on here).
I have to settle for the pleasure of finishing.

Nap time!! One of the pleasures of the last real week of a teacher's summer. It is too hot and humid outside to consider doing anything.

Okay, nobody is 'listening' - I am talking to myself. The CP disease. Bye.

To all from USA..I have a question.

Do ALL students go to college or university as we call it? Anything I see on TV in movies etc about American families, the kids are off to college.
Here in Australia, there are a lot of students who dont go to university (uni). They finish high school More...

Looking forward to this afternoon!!! I get to pick up the keys to the house and start moving in. All the big stuff (furniture) is going on Sunday with the help of No 1 son and his friend who owns a truck.
It's actually raining here today. Hallelujah!!! As much as I would hope that I get the furniture in without ruining it I am happy that it is raining at last. Hope it keeps up.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry about last night. Huge problems

Definitely got to move hosting company!

Anyway, everything should be ok for now. Let me know if you can't log it etc.

Very complicated question, DEB. I'll give it some thought and answer more later, and try not to repeat what others may say. Just for now, though, let me say that American students are encouraged to attend college, and for all that are capable of handling the academics, they CAN attend, one way or More...

Why sudocutie? What difference does it make to you?

Deb: Re kids going to college..boy that is a loaded question. It seems that most kids are encouraged to go to college here regardless of what career they have in mind. It is felt that a 'well rounded' education includes a liberal arts degree at least. Now I will qualify that by saying that is the More...

I have a friend who also buys the Sudoku books as well. She has no problem with the Tough or Hard, but struggles on the easy. Strange, but she looks at it differently somehow!!???? I spend a longer time on Hard, and Tough is almost impossible for me inside of 1/2 hour.

MICKEY - hope all is well with the new baby and look forward to seeing you post again when you've a bit more time and when you've had a good night's sleep - first nights are soooo hard!! But they'll soon be over!

continued for Deb: I speak from experience on both sides of the issue. Grew up in a blue collar family, college was not encouraged at all. My dad worked for General Motors for 35 yrs (and is living pretty well off his pension at 94 yrs old), and thought if it was good enough for him, it should be More...
