Jupiter Jim, thanks for the tidbit today about the smoking cravings that may subside in about 9 years. Today, I shut them up with food. Just as I have done nearly every day for the last year. It's all I really know. I have gained about 40 pounds. All my hard work from 3 years ago to successfully lose 50 and I went and ruined it. Makes me want a cigarette.

Angie, I'm overweight from quitting smoking ... several times. I gained each time, and then never took it off again. Well, now I'm trying to correct that, but I keep reminding myself that smoking was so much worse for my health than being overweight. Wishing you continued success.

Angie, I quit smoking about 25 years ago. Instead of eating, drink water, grab something (a pencil sometimes works)non-edible, go for short walks, call someone on the phone. Anything to keep your mind away from the cigarettes and the food. Good luck! Your lungs and skin (yeah! less wrinkles!) will appreciate it.

I agree, Ian, about the challenge. It worries me that as less developed nations take up more "advanced" farming practices and the indiscriminate use of fertilisers and pesticides, the damage will become more widespread.

I am still puzzling about the orogin of this avatar. It is not new. It has been stored there some time and I can't remember where from.
