We have no need of health care reform; US health care is excellent. What we need is health insurance reform.

The structure of health insurance is an anachronism, an artifact of WWII when wages were frozen. That was when employers started offering health insurance as an enticing addition More...

We had the mother of all thunder storms here last night. Hope that's all she has in store, or there are going to be a lot of wet witches at this party tonight!

Sorry Mariane, here's your 'e'!

Tyson Foods, the largest employer in Arkansas, had an outside counsel named James Blair. Blair took $1,000 from Hillary Clinton in 1979 (when Bill was governor) and turned it into $100,000 dollars in 13 months.

His accomplice in this was a rogue (and sanctioned) futures trader named More...

1:59 Well, I've served up two dinners since I last posted. Roast beef last night exactly as I planned, and tonight was a very "sweet" (anise/fennel recipe) italian sausage with garlic bread, sauteed onions & orange sweet bell pepper and salad. Tomorrow night we'll eat at a Harvest More...

Glinda, is that a strongly-held opinion?

Are you willing to defend it when challenged, especially by facts?

Are you a government employee?

Did I pay for the toast through some deeply-buried surtax on wheat?

When it comes to toast, Ian, I don't waffle on facts.

Do you proselytize about wheat?

Do you attempt to entice innocent children into the wheat cult?

One Sunday, in counting the money in the weekly offering, the Pastor of a small church found a pink envelope containing $1,000. I happened again the next week!

The following Sunday, he watched as the offering was collected and saw an elderly woman put the distinctive pink envelope on the More...

Thought I'd be tricky and just copy and paste Shosho's greeting - but the smilies don't copy and paste - so then I had to try and guess how many pumpkins I'd need - looks like two more!

Ok my dress doesn't fit anymore so I need to change my costume for Bean and Vici's party tonight . Thankfully Bean gave me her address, I wasn't looking forward to doorknocking all over her neighbourhood looking for her house all dressed up for a halloween party. Mind you I might have gotten some nice goodies from the neighbours

Aren't we scraping the toast a bit too much?
What's wrong with black toast. It's as malty as Guinness - brewed from barley (but not from Bali), and a black magic offering at Halloween-tide.

In response to an query by none other than Bertie, I googled candy corn.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that today, 30 October, is none other than National Candy Corn Day!!!

Let the festivities begin!!

Mickey: I can no longer drink hunky-dorey coffee - have to make do with decaff - otherwise I might as well stay in the toilet all night.

National Candy Corn Day..... so how exactly do we celebrate National Candy Corn Day???????
31/Oct/09 11:59 AM

I have also recently discovered the horror of decaff tea; and of decaff, diet, coca-cola. The latter is not too bad and reminds me of the good old days when I could freely enjoy authentic coca-cola without the various horrendous repercussions.

In a comment totally unrelated to either toast or candy corn (or toasted candy corn), according to the NY Times, a new regulation is going into effect in the U.S. that requires massive testing for all children's toys sold. This will place a huge burden on small business owners, including those who make handcrafted toys.
