Oh billy, Glinda will be so proud of you and your exemplary verse, I shouldn't wonder that Todd will do a twirl in the goldfish bowl... I know I would (if I could fit in it of course) xx

Suzy - I hope things don't get worse down there.
Loved your Australian joke.

Still raining here in Brisbane. Our local dam (not the big Brisbane dam) is overflowing at last.

Now the stuff in the shed is lifted up, the animals are checked, d1 has a text saying she should go to her father's workplace, all that is left to do is sit it out and hope it stops raining soon!

Thank you for your thoughts and wishes. Thank goodness I have been able to vent in here! Would you believe d2 has asked me to give her some school work since she can't go to school? I think I need to have her sanity evaluated. I'm off now to keep her company for a while.... I'll be back later.

Sue from OK, I enjoyed it.
Suzy, is the water ankle deep for the chooks, or you? Stay safe and please point some of that water towards Melbourne.

Hey Suzy, hang in there it is only water, keep safe.

bertie - could you not have a twirl in your bathtub? tricky I know, ...but if you do, don't go too fast as you might induce a whirlpool and I would feel quite sad if you got sucked down into it....

Where does one go when one is sucked into a whirlpool?... can it be done while eating Cadbury's flakes if so I'm up for it...

everyone.
Suzy from Oz - I think most of us can relate to some of the points in "You know if you're an Aussie". Had a good laugh to start the day. Thanks!
I hope the flooding doesn't get any worse for you. Hang in there! (not literally, of course). Take care.

Suzy, loved your joke too!
I don't mean to sound critical but it's flooding and the water is still rising, pouring rain, your car can't get through and you were still trying to get your girls to school? Wouldn't it be almost certain that the water would be even higher by 3pm? Floods are a normal More...

Oh? My last post disappeared.Suzy, I reread my first post, and it probably sounded like a criticism, rather than an attempt to give advice. Probably you're not used to flooding. With that I must be off. It's my turn to help with the local service where we make and deliver meals to those who need help - mostly the elderly and disabled.

where do you end up to if you fall into a black hole? or stumble into the bermuda triangle? or follow the aisle in an Ikea store? you could spend years thinking on your destination when the question should be: did you have fun on the way there and should i pack some lunch?
btw if it was a hollow cadbury's flake you could use it as a snorkel..

Do cadbury's make 100ft long hollow flakes I wonder... I shall write and ask them now... they may send me free samples of creme eggs if I ask nicely...
05/Feb/08 10:44 AM

That reminds me of a TV ad 'How do you eat your creme egg?' perhaps a question we could ask everyone...

Providing of course that everyone here has succumbed to a Cadbury's creme egg!

yes Lynda..it is Shrove Tuesday

Hi Rayray, how was the steak Dianne?

Hi Lynda.. we are all fine, other than being HOT and fed up with this weather (and I think our A/C is on the blink ) .. How are you and P ?
05/Feb/08 11:26 AM
 |  |

After a couple of days respite, the wind here is back to its now usual 70-80mph. This is hardly resorting to the topic of weather for want of other things to say - it seems like a long spell of serious weather

Very hot, my miserely man won't use the air con, reckons it is too expensive to run. Can't use the pool 'cos the water is 40C. Am babysitting a magnificent German Shepherd called Jack this morning. Very handsome lad.

Lynda: Thanks - the steak dianne was marvellous. The repeated beating with the meat hammer before and after sealing in a fry pan; a little touch of MSG (naughty); the use of soya sauce as a tenderiser; making potted, finely-chopped mushrooms as a top-spread before a final grill - ALL paid off. Wowee!

Cadbury Creme Eggs? Yuck, I don't eat them at all. I do, however, like the ones that are filled with caramel.
Now I want chocolate.
05/Feb/08 11:32 AM

grr to the miserely man Lynda
05/Feb/08 11:32 AM
 |  |

I'm with you Angie/W.. love the caramel ones.
05/Feb/08 11:33 AM
 |  |

Rayray I put slices of pawpaw on meat to tenderise it. I don't think we can get MSG here, used to use it a lot at one time. At present it is too hot here for anything much more than fresh fruit. You have been having a lot of stong winds round UK this year.

What is there for us who don't like chocolate?
05/Feb/08 11:35 AM
 |  |

No kidding Rola. Give me caramel drenched with chocolate anyday. No wonder I can't lose weight! Now, with my chocolate, I don't mind almonds, but I do not like nuts if caramel is involved. Drooling?

Lynda, 100 lashes with a wet noodle?
05/Feb/08 11:38 AM

Rolanda: Who are we supposed to be saying "grr" to?
05/Feb/08 11:40 AM
 |  |

Rayray : to Lynda's hubby
05/Feb/08 11:43 AM

Paw-paws are expensive here, Lynda. The MSG is just a flavour enhancer - but some people say it is poisonous. I forgot that I also used lemon juice to enhance penetration of the seasoning. Anyway my guests and I enjoyed the meal.
