5:46 Here are some experiences Australians may not know much about - ice fishing and the seasonal communities, large and small, that are built out on iced over lakes in the winter.
Tip Up Town is built every year on Houghton Lake, a huge shallow lake in Michigan.

When I was growing up, my dad went ice fishing every winter. (My favorite fish are Bluegills.) My dad would fillet them and there would be no bones. My mom fried them up just right. They were delicious. Thanks, Wilodene!

maen all! i did some survey work at the strawberry copper and uranium mine and have trout fished the lake in warmer conditions...pretty good as i recall...don't remember anyone ice fishing in those days...glad to see the mormans have picked up on the sport.

Cold water is densest at about 34, and then the colder ice floats on top and actually forms a buffer that prevents the depths of the lake from freezing, so the fish stay alive if they've gone deep.

Can you catch strawberries in the summer?
Debby, my grandfather used to pay us a penny for every bone we found while eating the fish he caught. As I grew older, I realized he did it so we would learn to be careful and not choke on bones. We didn't make much money on his fish!

9.13 I thoroughly enjoyed doing that hard.

I have seen docos on these guys, they are fully set up in their little sheds-beer, food, bed, heater, hole to fish in!
