We used to take our own boat up the river to Silver Springs back in the 60's. The river is lined with trees full of monkeys that were imported.

Been there many a time. Great family place. 77 here today and blue sky.

maen all! very nice place indeed! when i was going to USF years ago our swim and diving teams worked there for x-tra bucks. one of the few attractions that invoke that old florida feeling. alas, they are talking about closing down due to waning interest and competition from all the theme parks.

I was there on a boat like that in the 60s too. Unfortunately, today I probably exceed the weight/square inch. (There's a word for that, I believe. "Load"?)

Looks like a fun ride! I wouldn't want to see an alligator looking up through the glass bottom at me, though!

Patty - you're likely to see alligators along any river or spring in Florida...quite a few lakes/ponds outside city limits. And once in a great while they'll show up in city ponds/lakes, too. They tend to get "relocated" from neighborhoods pretty quickly. Especially when officials start getting reports of missing pets and parents make sure they emphasize danger to children.

Sorry to disappoint you Anne, but I have seen this pic before, and done it as a jigsaw.
