I may be beating the drum too hard, but...
Today's tough puzzle easily resolves with a Y Wing Style.
One can find the path I decided to illustrate in yet another new blog page. The link to this page is located in the usual place, upper right column, under Check out the Sudoku Blog.

Great photo, I wasn't sure quite what they were going to be at first. Is this one of Ian's photos, although he usually submits his on medium.

Oh how neat! We hear owls in the springtime. One will hoot, then we will hear another one a little farther away. They will talk back and forth. When they are close, they can sound very eeerrrie! Thanks for the picture!

You are right again Anne. I submit all my photos in 'medium' but there seems to have been a change of policy lately and they are appearing all over the place. I don't mind though, the photos that are coming through are ones that I submitted ages ago.

My eyesight must be failing me. These little dudes look like monkeys of some sort. I guess it's time for new glasses, or I need to check what's in the coffee.

I first saw Tawny Frogmouths at Brookfield Zoo, just west of Chicago. They look a lot like nighthawks, especially in the face, but are much larger. Kids like to play 'find the critter' when at zoos, and these birds are great for that game. They sit perfectly still in the daytime and can easily be More...

Why are they called frog mouth? It is more like frog-head.

They almost look furry!

Very easy for a hard, I did't have to use any possibilities.

mAen, y'all! Great photo Ian. Our Whippor-wills are also nightjars, buy quite elusive. I was fortunate early one morning while setting tees on a golf course surrounded by deep woods and a swamp to flush one. It was quite a surprise to see that which I had sought so often as a child.

I am loving all the photos from absolutely the other side of the world from my home. Soon I will submit some pictures of my world.

Shash, I don't have a photo of them yawning but they have huge mouths - presumably to help catch insects on the wing. They are night hunters and tragically many of them get killed on the road as they try to catch insects that are attracted to car headlights. At least one of ours met that fate on the road outside our house.

maen all! nice boids! jan from fla., i'm surprised that you haven't seen families of burrowing owls around your neck of the woods. by my place in venice they takeover abandoned tortoise and rattler dens. its common to see groups of 5 to 10 in the early morning or dusk.

Great photo, Ian. I love to see the interesting critters from Australia. My friend has owls in the barn on her ranch. They are so cute when they look down on you from the rafters.

A lovely photo Ian. Are they the same as mopokes? A family of them used to sit on a pile of stone in the daytime. As Jim says, as soon as someone came near, they'd all point their heads at the sky and turn into dead branches. Ostrichlike in reverse?

The parent (there was only one) and two chicks lived in a tree at the far end of our back yard near the creek. The parent used to sit on the wires at the front of our house waiting for food. The two chicks had a narrow escape from a currawong once - tried to drag one from the nest. We hung around scaring it off.

giblet, the answer to your question is no. The following site gives a fairly good explanation of the differences -

I will post a reference to the Boobook next (if I can find it).

make sure there are no gaps in the address when you post it.
Good luck.
