A part of Albany's beautiful rugged coastline.
This photo was taken when GrannieMo & Steve were with me. A girl at work uses this photo as her desktop.

no need for specials, the toughs only need your ability to spot singles. Y Wings and such may speed that up a lot, but you can always find a single some place.

Anne, that is another beautiful photo of your part of the country. I must pay you a visit.

fi/NT there are rips visible in the photo. If you look closely you can see yellowish strips in the water running away from the beach at right angles to the beach - that is a sure sign of a rip. I More...

Hello Fi - lovely to see you back on the site.

This beach is very popular as a fishing beach and if you look closely, there should be a vehicle on the beach but you need 4xdrives to get on there.
If anyone is thinking of visiting here, just let me know and I will don my 'guide' outfit!

Anne lovely shot...what a beautiful spot. Will give you a call if ever we get over to the West.
Ian, thanks for the info on how to spot a rip.. there was an article in the paper a while ago trying to educate people on the water conditions but it wasn't very clear.. I guess our surf conditions More...

Thanks Ian for the rip info. It looked 'rippish' but I wasn't sure why! Anne I've just checked and you've had several fantastic photos of your beautiful state- from the rugged red mineral rich North to the south and that fantastic coast. Hi there Canuk G- Thankyou., I'm back in NT and very well.

Meg, the problem with beach conditions is that they change, often with the tides. The water that comes in with the waves has to return and it generally slides under the incoming waves. Then it moves sideways along the beach until it meets an undertow moving in the opposite direction where they meet More...

Thanks very much Fi - I've tried to fill the gap with photos during your absence.
The dark in the water is actually a reef. I have only been to this beach a couple of times but you would only find little children paddling, no-one actually swimming. There are very good surfing beaches around the More...

Nice photo Anne. I picked as being from your neck of the woods as it came up. Appreciate the rip info Ian but I think you will find that most of the sand churned up here would be from the water channelling out between small pockets of reef. Great slamon fishing spot by the looks (not N. Atlantic - different species) but you must watch out for the rock snappers!

Thanks for the comment Dave. I was giving general advice on rips and I guess I left out the most important piece of advice - bathe between the flags.

THanks Ian for the info.. we were also told the same thing as children about keeping in line with a spot on the beach to make sure we weren't getting dragged and that we were still within the flagged area. I've never been one to be too adventurous in the surf. I'm quite happy just to get wet and More...
