Westward Ho! Can you imagine the hardships the pioneers must have faced! Look at how desolate it is there. No wonder it is called the Devil's Gate. Am hoping our space pioneers land safely today. They are supposed to be low on fuel.

I agree with Cami/LA, the fence rails in the foreground make all the difference. Great photo. The more stories I hear about the pioneers, the more I am impressed with their courage and determination. They must have been remarkable people.

maen all! another tourist trap near independence rock where the mormon shopkeepers will give you a ride in a rickshaw type cart if you give a donation and listen or watch their holy bull.

Good afternoon to all! Great photo! Regarding the pioneers, can you imagine travelling for thousands of miles through the wilderness and the wheather conditions to make yourself a home? Today we travel the land in cars, but then, they did it on foot with animal assitance. Hat's off to our forefathers/foremothers!

we live in much easier times with all our machinery and equipment, communications and life style but they lived in simpler times ... with less hassles and less stress. where is the balance ....
