Good mAen, because it is 3:30 in the afternoon.

We have a lot of these trees around here I have a yellow flowering one in my front yard.

Sheryl, I always heard that verse as 'Pinching all the monkeys he can see' but the gist is the same.

Sheryl from Canada - the reason for the ha ha ha after each verse is because the kookaburra makes a laughing sound. It's quite lovely to hear them laughing. I actually prefer our magpies of which I have submitted a photo of recently.

4:16 Did you know that the Blue Mountains west of Sydney are blue because of the eucalyptus trees that cover them - the oil creates that effect (not sure how, though).

Anne .. have u ever lived in the middle of the territory of a family of Kookaburras?? Did you know they all start that call all at the same time about 1/2 an hour before sunrise. It is a lovely call except when you wanted to sleep in on Saturday! :)

7:37 When I went Russia a couple of years ago to meet family for the first time. We went to a banya (Sauna). They had birch leaves which they used to beat your back and front with. I suppose it helps open your pours or something. Not sure. After the fourth time then you go into a cold shower. Suppose to invigerate you.

Rose, the blue haze comes from an aerosol of the volatile oils from the trees. Many kinds of trees can contribute this. It's what gives the Smokey Mountains in the Eastern US their 'smoke.

The Blue Gum was claimed by Australian loggers to be the tallest trees anywhere before they were cut More...
