JAZ - we stood out on our driveway and watched the shuttle go up! What a spectacular sight even from this distance. We are about 30-40 miles away from the Cape and we have a clear view as the shuttle rises over the trees.

think it would be awesome to see the shuttle go up.

Prayers for all being affected by the fires in Victoria and especially those fighting them. The droughts and fires are major incentives for doing all we can to slow global warming.

I haven't been here for more days than I can remember because I'm extra busy getting my run-down old farmhouse to run itself while I head to Victoria for 4 months. I arrive in Melbourne Jan 28th. Hope all you VIctorians have a wonderful holiday gathering!

Is the fire in Bright a new one or an offshoot of one of the existing ones - do you know?

it is a new fire starting on the tawonga gap road between bright and mount beauty.
lots of problems with this one too. spotting up to 15 klms in front of the fire and evacuation or stay orders for everyone in that area through to harrietville covering freeburgh, german town , bogong etc

More issues with the king valley fires also they have broken some of the containment lines and have spot fires and ember attacks through cheshunt, cheshunt south, rose river, whitfield again

I also see that the wind has done a 180 degree turnaround and the township of Jamieson is under threat. Is that correct? Some, 600 people and lots of unoccupied holiday homes

I believe that is the case and also Tolmie and Kevington are under ember and fire threat again as it broke containment lines there too.

A cyclic redundancy check (or CRC) is a mathematical algorithm used to check the integrity of data. In this case it appears that something is bu ggered. Probably should run a disk check.

Go to My Computer, Local Disk (C:), Use the right button on the mouse, select properties, go to the tools, and run a disk check. Hope that all makes sense.

Well we got to more than 42 degrees C in Melbourne today, a taste of what it must be like closer to the fires. When I read about 'radiant heat' and needing to stay out of it, I don't know how those guys in the CFA actually on the firefront can deal with it at all.
Thankfully the mercury has dropped down to 24 or so and we have a cool change now. Hope you get that soon Rose.
