Angie: A high school student's job IS high school first and formost. Kids think they have to work while in school for all the 'things' they 'need'. At that stage of the game, the tail starts wagging the dog. The other thing I would be concerned about is her being out alone at that hour. My wife's little old granny used to say that; 'no good ever happens after midnight'.

Hi Lovely picture.
Angie That is a long shift to work on a school night. In England there are restrictions on the times a school age child can work.
Topaz, there is a big difference working a job until midnight and relaxing listening to music. the former makes you a lot more tired.

ANGIE!! That is against the law in the states. A student has limited hours and times that they can work to protect them. After raising 3 teenagers, I've heard it all but bottom line in the US, that is illegal.

This avatar is for our Winona State University men's basketball team, 55 games undeafeated, 32-0 for the season, on their way to a second NCAA Division 2 championship. Go Warriors!

One and all.......ANGIE, when my son was 16, I let him work a max of 3 days per week but he had to be home by 10pm....personally, midnight is too late in my opinion...no time at midnight to do any homework if they have any. :)

I used to love to ski. Brings back fond memories.

... weren't we supposed to post our favorite cartoon character today?

It's a Blue Belle ice cream hat.

Angie, teens who have part-time jobs often loose sight of their primary goals in life. The extra money is very nice, and they have stuck their foot a little farther into the adult world towards which they are avidly rushing. School work suffers, (maybe not so much as a letter grade) but hurried More...

Mornin', KEITH!

CP ... just wondering why you selected Froot Loops as as your Cereal Post avatar ... family favorite? reflective of your state of mind? :) Even as adults, my kids refer to their childhood favorite as ''Froot Poops'' ...

Angie - as far as kids working, both of our kids worked in high school, usually weekends only. In Minnesota kids under 18 can only work till 10 at night. I think that working gives them a taste of financial responsibility. They were both lucky because their employer would schedule around their sports and school functions which all part of the student exprience.

I decided to go back and change to the picture that makes sense with the first comment.

Keith - Love the hat, too bad the photo is so small, would love to see a larger one.

Judy - if you go back and read yesterdays comments, C Greg told me he was the horse in his avatar. Would like to take the lead on that?

SpadeScorpio - you are making me dizzy, now my Batman theme makes no sense at all.

Ah, LK, I thought you took care of that pretty well with the ''which end'' comment! I was more inspired by CGreg stating he was on top ... I was dying to ask if the horse was a good ride ... back to you, Lusty Woman of the North ...

They are a favourite with my son and grandsons, Judy ( and only allowed on weekends for son, and at Grammy's for the grandsons!) But, really, it was more a reference to the wonderful bunch of Fruit Loops who post on here! lol

2:20 and many thanks for whoever submitted the beautiful photo of the chair lift for those of us who love to ski. (P.S. to Tricia and Grannie Mo, I don't like heights either, but when on a chair lift with all that snow underneath, I never get the willies).
And to Angie, lots of factors to More...

Being a medical person, CP, I would think that you would be promoting the tasteless, healthy, high-fiber cereals! Froot Poops were an occasional treat for my kids, too, but my daughter doesn't let HER little ones eat them!

Angie, too late for your daughter! The laws differ from state to state, in Alabama 16 year olds can't work that late. Last year I lived outside of DC in Virginia, my 16 year old got a job at an icecream shop, after closing at 11 on a school nite, she didn't get home until almost 1. She quit w/ my blessing!

Judy - I asked CGreg if he was on top, he said he was the horse, and I didn't say anything about 'which end'. But the 'good ride' is a good one. Wonder if the horse is a gelding?

Sorry C Greg, just had to ask

GannieMo - from previous posts I find that you and I were in London around the same time (early sixties)and now you tell me you were at Eaglehawk Neck. I was there last year. If we keep going like this we may eventually meet!!!!!!!

BTW when I retire I will be about half an hours drive away from Eaglehawk Neck...top spot!
