Thank you Chayote. That picture of my grandmother (on the left) and her sister was taken in the summer on a glacier near Stewart, BC, which is just inside the Alaska panhandle. My grandparents had a general store in Stewart and, later on, in a couple of other mining towns near there.

Sung to Greensleeves:

4. Isaiah told of Messiah’s birth,
So many watched and waited
For His great light to bring us sight;
So long anticipated.
Laud, laud, extol His name.
The Prince of Peace as an infant came.
Love, love that God sent down.
The Babe, the Son of More...

Well, I was done getting ready for Christmas as of noon Christmas Eve. This year is a personal best in terms of preparedness for me, and that's funny because a week ago I still had a long list of crafting and making and baking and about 16 items in my amazon.com shopping cart that still needed to be ordered and delivered. Then we got snowed in.

We left at noon today for Christmas Eve dinner with the extended family. All Gramma's grandkids, 'the cousins' ages 16-28, were playing apples to apples and laughing while we older generation sat and visited. I think that's Gramma's greatest gift and greatest legacy, that her grandkids still come and interact with each other and exchange fond memories of years gone by.
