Two 80 year old men are driving down the road when they hear the Ex-Lax commercial end with the statement: "It makes you feel young again."

Thanks, Greg. It's been a long time since I've spent a 4th with them. Keeping cool might be a problem. LOL
I love the name 'Dexter', it sounds so refined. Both those breeds are so cute, Betty. Together, as Heidi says, adorable!
Could you post a photo of Dexter? I'd love to see him. I'm glad he's feeling well.

Morning. Quiet here on site. Guess the top-siders are enjoying a quiet Sunday, while most of the down under mob are going to work or getting kids off to school.

Not me though! The joys of rotating shift work mean that I have a day off today (and I "politely" declined the offer of a recall shift at 0630), Mr P went to work ages ago, and 4T may surface about 10ish - he has finished school for this semester.

Hey Kathy, bet I beat you out the door! I finally got hubby tranquilized and packed. We'll be going in the opposite direction you're going. We'll be heading east to visit son and family in North Carolina.

Wish I could visit everyone I saw last year but with hubby planning it's a wonder if I'll survive it! Will have very sporadic visits on the internet so after today I'll try to keep up with the news here as well as I can.

Kathy you have picked a good week to visit Texas, we have cooler weather predicted this week. Instead of this warm 105 F weater, it should be just in the upper 90's. Or that is what predicted for Central Texas.

Today is Girl 1's third birthday. We have put off the celebration, since Girl 2 was also due today. The girls went to MILs house and I slept the majority of the day.
Don't worry, we did have a little celebration for her.

Oh and speaking of teenage boys -- my son (I was at work) had a massive nose bleed on Friday - my sink was full of blood and the boy, in the course of bleeding -- was able to run down the stairs, take the cap off a water bottle, fill the cap with blood so he could show his friends.
boy is fine, and we had a nice discussion on how to clean up our blood messes. gotta love 'em

Good morning all.
Bon voyage and safe travels to Angie, Kathy and Shosho.
Happy birthday to Ally and Girl #1.
Re discussion on raising girls or boys, I had one of each and the girl was a breeze compared to the boy. But that's just my experience.
Off to visit MIL in hospital and my Mum tomorrow - she is having problems as well.

Angie - the wedding sounds wonderful!!!

We're just back from 4 days of babysitting the grandchildren. We're tired, but happy! Temperatures here in California are hot, hot, hot - reaching 111 at one point on the way home. We arrived home to a relatively cool 98.

Have a great time, Angie, and give my regards to your father, with my appreciation for the fact that I speak neither German nor Japanese.

Trouble posting, only on this site, Saylz. Nothing more complicated than that.

I think I may have caused the problem myself, because I was making note of the fact that ouzo is historically linked with a little island whose name begins with "Lesb". My have blocked me out for a time.

In an Australian survey of 400 people only 7% could spell all of the following correctly.
embarrass
accommodation
guarantee
opportunity
eighth
receipt
accessory
February
Over 70% couldn't spell both of the first two.
The worst age group was 24-34 YO.

Salyz: every time I use embarrass or harass, I have to use mnemonics.

For example, if I'm not bare-assed (one R), I don't need to feel ashamed. That reminds me that the word 'bare' has only one 'r'--there are two 'r's in 'embarrass'. And there is only one 'I', just as there is only one More...
