Bean - I saw a Blue wren at the Tree top walk the other week but he wouldn't keep still long enough for me to take a photo. They are really pretty little birds but I'm amazed at the colour on the finch. I actually e'mailed my daughter back and asked her if it was real. Dumb Mum!!!

Whoops, haven't gone yet after seeing your message Lynda. Yes, I used to be scared of heights but it seems to give me a thrill now to be up high and I make myself do things that I wouldn't normally do. In Auckland I was going to do the Sky Jump off the tower in the city a couple of years ago but ran out of time to get back in to do it. I wouldn't bunjie jump though.

I admire you, I am terrified of heights, even working on roofs give me the jitters. A friend's neice bungy jumped in Africa and the jolt did some damage to her eyes. Send some of the rain up here please.

Anne - that Gouldian Finch is absolutely gorgeous!! One of the things I loved about Australia was all the beautiful birds we saw there. I was glad to hear you made it to the Botannical Gardens in Christchurch to see the beautiful flowers & trees there. Guess I should go back to your page More...

I'm packing my bags for a trip to California (SF) which will also involve some teaching. My itinerary is posted in my picture gallery. Had to copy it into powerpoint then save as a jpeg file! And that was after I rescued the emails and docs from a sickly computer. I'm feeling very proud of myself and very glad I have a laptop as well.

Anne, Bean: I have blue wrens visiting me frequently. They are such pretty little birds. When I was Girl Guide I was in the blue wren patrol.

Hello friends. Just two seconds to let you know I've uploaded a self-portrait (a bit of self-promotion never killed anyone....I hope) and one of my favorite songs in YouTube.

Love you all.

Thanks Angie.
I'll be wracking my brains to think up who I know that is traveling over that away in the near future or over here. The items I want to bid on are as rare as hens teeth over here because they are discontinued items. I don't even mind paying twice on the postage if the buying price More...

Nice picture today. Whenever I think about potatoes I think of Peru (Ireland I associate with whiskey). They were the first to cultivate them.

Lately I've been telling my friends, that I'm as poor as a penurious Peruvian potato peddler, but afterwards I always wind up feeling lower than a More...

About the Lasik surgery. It's purely cosmetic. I'd be reluctant to take that kind of risk with my eyes. Anyway, my glasses protect my eyes from unexpected projectiles. (But that's limited, since I don't wear them at home.)

Some people think I look better with glasses, since they obscure the More...

Back from our meeting with Victoria at Southbank - what fun to park - The cricket is on at the Gabba (parking at Southbank), the Motor Show is on at the Convention Centre (park at S/Bank) found a park, cost $12, rain stopped for the few hours we were there so the humidity was extreme. Congrats, CP ! Bet the dishwasher was messing up the paper plates, right? ! But unpacking in a new home is exciting! New dreams, new starts, new ways of looking at home! Have fun!

Rosemary, your daughter's photo was magnificent! That bird is extraordinary! The colors were soooo vibrant! Our birds are drab in comparison!

Nal, how do you get the right shot? The last time I tried photographing myself, you can still see the camera! I used the reflective wall of the Disney Hall (the one that Gehry designed, originally the walls were all mirror like but the glare was driving everyone in the surrounding buildings crazy, so almost all were given the brush texture. I found a few left alone!
