Mr P had 2 aunts die over Christmas. They lived in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, where he was born. His mum was the youngest of 6 sisters. Whe was the first to die of all of them, and these 2 were the last. They were the eldest (96) and second youngest (84). I am so glad I urged him to take leave at the More...

We had a lovely ceremony for my dad today. "Taps" brought a tear to our eyes and the Air Force honor guard was very sharp. It was the most impressive cemetery I have ever seen. 516 acres of perfectly manicured and maintained grounds. Rest in peace, dad...

Hi everyone,

Oh, Zoki, I worked with a child and his parents one year to get his medication at the right dosage. That semester had its up and down but starting the second semester we got him on the smallest dosage that was effective for him. He wasn't a little angel but at least he could hang onto his own More...

This year I have a student for whom any amount of medication wasn't working for him. Even the smallest amount turned him into a zombie. I told the mother that I would rather have to deal with him bouncing off the walls but learning instead of a stoned kid. He still doesn't do a lot of work but enough to let me know for certain that he is learning. BTW he got 93% on his district quarterly test!

shosho she is on the lowest dosage,we still have some moments but its easier to control and she actually listens also she calms down a lot quicker now.

Each case is different and each child has different needs. Some need medication and it makes a world of difference for that child when he/she finds that he/she can accomplish work with pride. For others medication doesn't do a bit of good and merely makes the child a zombie. Parents, teachers, doctors, and students need to work together to make sure the right treatment is given.

Good, Zoki! But check every year because your child is growing and with her body changes, her needs changes. You'll always have those moments but what child doesn't have those moments??? That's normal. What's important is that she is happier with herself. The first student has gone on to More...

The second child, I and my partner teacher are thinking of changing his schedule to see if we can make him more effectively learning. He has problems with language arts so we're going to start him with that subject while he's alert and I will have him for math and science in the last half of the day (his favorite subjects) when he winds down.
