Kathy - my mother, bless her, actually bought me two oven mitts, or gloves, as we call them - one is for hiding away when people come to dinner!!

Display them proudly, Fiona! It proves you actually cook! I don't own a pot holder or mitt that isn't at least singed!
Yay! I get to work on a riddle today!

I once found an oven mitt in a store that was printed with a map of the lower penninsula of Michigan. I took a red sharpie, drew a heart over SW Michigan, then sent it to my sister as a gift. This set of mitts has both penninsulas:

Three Flies in a Bathroom

Three flies in a trashcan get trapped overnight in a bathroom. The first fly goes to the sink, the second fly stays in the tub, and the third fly chooses the toilet.

The next morning, all the exhausted flies gather back in the trashcan.

The More...

Speaking of beer cans......
The Chicken à la Beer Butt that I fixed for dinner last night was great! I even made my own rub for the chicken that was really good. I do believe it was *the-woman-that-does-not-go-into-that-room* that first mentioned it several days ago and started the discussion.

Three idiots decide to go hunting. The first one says he's going to get a buck. He goes out, and indeed comes back with a buck. The other two hunters ask how he did it. He says, "I see tracks. I follow tracks. I get buck."

So the second hunter says that he's going to get a doe. More...

Today I have planted a Magnolia Stellata, the Star Magnolia. As Houpette was such a little star underneath will be the resting place for her ashes.
Can I thank you all again for your lovely messages everyone of them helped .

Well, then, thanks Mo! It was delicious. Very juicy with lovely crispy skin.
What a wonderful memorial to Houpette. A star for your little star.

Thank you, Kathy.
Our chickens are laying, so I'll be making some custard today. With Easter coming up stores will be selling eggs cheap, so custard and lemon meringue pie are on the menu. And egg foo young (we like to pretend it's Klingon Ghah).

I found a recipe I'll try to post (really) tomorrow or the next day. If you're inclined to make custard, do so in advance and refrigerate it and use it to make my recipe. And buy some canned plums, rich yogurt, lemons and ground cardamom.

Ohhhh, I LOVE egg foo young! I have a recipe for it, but I haven't made it in years! Mostly order it at our excellent Chinese restaurant. Hmmmm. Good idea for tonight! The restaurant, that is....

Having 3 knees seemed to help my game today. My partner and I won both sets, although they were close: 7-6 (7-5 tiebreak score) and 7-5. Dortheas cookies helped, too!

I love bridge photos! On one of my trips to Paris (1985), I was lucky enough to be there when Christo "wrapped" the Pont-Neuf and transformed it into one of his fantastical creations! If I can find a photo, I'll post it in my gallery. In the meantime, you can check it out here:

Kathy! Really, what were you thinking? Me! of all people to suggest going into that room to prepare food. GannieMo did start it, but was concerned about the weather that day, so I suggested a method that works in that thing in that room that heats food and not in the microwave.
Just cannot believe, you thought I would do such a thing.
