Port Douglas will never have a backdrop like that, I hope. I'm already only 16 degrees south of the equator. Surely I don't need to move further north.

Hi all hope you are having a great day.

Good Maen- As you have probably gathered from Jim/Jupiter and Kathy/Valrico’s posts, I have been visiting with Jim/Jupiter in Florida for the past month. I arrived back in Oz yesterday morning and have spent the last 24 hours trying to recover from jetlag mainly caused by missing my flight More...

Oooops it is now mAen (jetlag is my excuse) I forgot to mention my incredibly moving experience of seeing a 'Green' Turtle laying her eggs on Juno Beach at Midnight - an unforgettable experience in more ways than one.

Hi Everyone,

I've just been sent a suggestion regarding some kind of 'Big News' area where a roundup of the latest 'news' is held. Personally, I think it is a useful idea - especially as I don't read the comments perhaps as often as I should. Like most of the features onsite, not everyone More...

I've just emailed Gath about my "Members' Big News" idea and thought the easiest and fairest way was to send him a Word doc listing all comments on the matter in their entirety. He was happy to receive the suggestion and said he has some thoughts on the matter, and will post later.

Gath, as you know Your site has played a big part in the development of many 'real life' and internet friendships across the globe and within each country. I thank you.
I hope Kym is keeping well - and that the 'Important News' idea is up and running in time for your 'Big News' BTW I reckon you will have even less time to read the comments when you become a 'stay at home Dad' LOL

Gath was quick off the mark there Susan!
Welcome back Jaz

Jaz - you beat me to it. A goal for Gath is to have it up and running by the time Kym says Honey, I think it is time.

Gath - Thanks and good luck to both of you.

2:21 to you all from Beijing.

Thnderstorms this afternoon cooled off my part of the city (near Xinhua University).

Today, I had lunch with some graduate students in polymer chemistry. They were very interesting.

So tell more Jim, why are you there and what are you doing?

Olympics, Broni?
31/Jul/08 6:59 PM

Jim - We'll all be interested to know what it's like there and how they handle the Olympics.
31/Jul/08 7:00 PM

OK I am dumb, but what does polymer chemistry and the olympics have in common? Please send me a private message if you deem fit.
31/Jul/08 7:08 PM

I'd be interested to know what Jim does that resulted in meeting graduate students! Sounds like an interesting life!!!
31/Jul/08 7:08 PM

I think Jim is working in Bejing, and is not there for the olympics
31/Jul/08 7:14 PM
 |  |

Probably nothing at all, Broni, but one would assume, and I am assuming here that even if Jim's gone to Beijing for something to do with polymer chemistry that he's timed it to be able to see the Olympics. I would have. I'm probably the dumb one, mate!

A woman stopped by unannounced at her son's house.
