I'd like to know if that's a lilac point Siamese, or something special like that. I'll bet its eyes are blue. Or maybe aqua.

i won't embarrass the man who uses words incorrectly by naming him
he knows who he is
'myriad' means 'a very great number' and can replace the word 'many'
so you don't write 'a myriad of' which would be like writing 'a many of'
sorry but someone had to tell you

In Japan, they have replaced the impersonal and unhelpful Microsoft error
messages with Haiku poetry messages. Haiku has strict construction rules -
each poem has only 17 syllables; 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the
second, 5 in the third.here are a few for you

Peaceful sleeper! Good Maen to all.

from....

You are mistaken. It can certainly mean 'a very great number' (your own words, in fact), in which case 'a very great number of' is perfectly good usage.

It is both an adjective and a noun. Look it up. And get in the habit of looking things up before pontificating.

2:33 - a good time for me and all I get is another picture of a cat? Dog pictures are fine, but cat pictures are not!

Morning y'all! 4:10 today...while talking on the phone! Not bad! A Siamese looking friendly, but aren't they typically grumpy felines?
 |  |
the fact remains that 'a myriad of' is incorrect
English;myriad stands alone
why don't you check the meaning of illiterate
then you'll be able to use the word correctly
 |  |
that should have been to Ian from Boston

It's sooo nice that people feel the need to correct each other and snipe while doing it. Sure disrupts the friendliness of such a great website. Accept each other for their foibles, feel smug if you must, but please keep your negative vibes to yourself!
 |  |

You are simply wrong, From. And obviously apoplectic that anyone would point have the temerity to point it out.

You rattle pretty easily, too.

no point in saying point twice, I guess.
 |  |

Mike, I agree and will keep silent now.

Maen to all. A lazy cat doing what cats normally do!

Usage Note: Throughout most of its history in English myriad was used as a noun, as in a myriad of men. In the 19th century it began to be used in poetry as an adjective, as in myriad men. Both usages in English are acceptable, as in Samuel Taylor Coleridge's “Myriad myriads of lives.” This poetic, More...
