Off to make dinner now. I'll be trying something new tomorrow night: pork tenderloin cooked in a crockpot with black beans and salsa. If it turns out, I'll post the recipe. Otherwise, this will be the last you hear of it!!!

Good Mean, Everyone!
Jane, I made the chocolate chip spice cookies from your recipe book ... They were delish!! Everyone who tasted them said 'Wow! they are Scrumptious!!' I said "it is an American recipe "
Which reminds me - note to self - 'make time to post pics of my Florida trip on my page this week'

We are nearly having a sunny day here in not-been-sunny-since-before-Christmas Brisbane. I won't be returning to work with a suntan this year.
I'm thinking about cleaning out my kitchen cupboards. If I stay here for a while longer that thought just may go away.

Right - now I've done the easy, medium and hard. It's time I got moving. Have a great day/weekend if I don't get back.

It is 01.20 and I can't sleep. Thought all seemed quiet and opened a shutter only to find the outside world is white again and snow is still falling. At least the high freezing wind seems to have dropped for now.
I'll go make a cup of tea

If Debs from Melbourne is reading - this is my kangaroo sign avatar but it won't use it too much because it could be confusing.

Another mouse story, our cat had the habit of leaving mice on our doormat and sometimes they would slip in unnoticed by us. We didn't take much notice of her staring at the fridge as she did this when she wanted food. We were going grocery shopping and I got the shopping bags from beside the More...

It is unusually cold here in UK. Our temperatures are well down below zero - as low as minus 15 C.
At first I was a little worried this was the anticipated switch to arctic conditions in Europe from climate change (a predicted eddy that will occur from the general global warming trend). That More...

Copying my mouse story from yesterday's posting (silly me didn't realise it was well after midnight by the time I had finished reading)-

I had a mouse living in my pantry so I tried everything to get rid of it. I tried nasty baits, but it nibbled them and asked for more. I tried traps and More...

I use a mixture of Brie and soft bread crumbs mixed together. My mice then ask for a small glass of wine.

Meeting a future spouse in the frozen foods section = one of our favorite quotes from one of our favorite movies:

His pickup line:
You know, it's dangerous for you to be here in the frozen food ... cuz you could melt all this stuff!

Whoa! What picky mice!!!
When my hubby and I were a young couple no kids yet, we lived in Venice (back then it was a poor neighborhood, great neighbors but we weren't rolling in money) we had mice problems. My hubby (he's almost a foot bigger than me!) set out the traps but I had to get rid More...

While we lived in Indonesia, big mice (= rats) were a problem for us. One of our very first dinners was punctuated by number 1 daughter saying - as she looked from across the dining table through to the kitchen - a rat just walked in through the air vent above that door! Each outside door had a More...

Popular was to catch the rodents was to lay a sticky glue board down - rat starts to walk across it, paws get stuck, the harder it tries to get off, the stucker it becomes. Now whaat to do after you caught them? Some locals would put the board - upside down - out on the road for cars to run over More...

In our house, we had traps, metal cage on top of plank of wood, about 8 inches by 5, and were successful in catching many rodents. Mr P (and the gardener when he was taught by Mr P) would then place the trap upside down in the fish pond. Those rats never did learn to swim or hold their breath.

I knew we had been in Indonesia too long when, on our last night there, we stopped for icecream at a place above a KFC outlet. There was a rat going up the stairs just in front of us - and not one of us blinked an eye!!!

Everything here is white. I need one or two things from the shop but I just may do without. I have a very sore throat and all the trimmings. You'd think that after 5 days of antibiotic treatment(for the tooth abscess) that I could remain untouched by the bugs of the greater masses, but a visit from More...
