At first I thought it was a tap for sap (to make maple syrup), but yep, that baby is stuck!!!

It looks like the tree won this one.

Maen all - so would you say stuck between a tree and a hard space? Made me think of the apple trees in the Wizard of OZ. in the 80's today had to put the air back on.

Good maeN, everyone! I still can't figure out what was stuck in the tree..

I wonder if the tree will eventually swallow that axe head. I've seen trees grow around amazingly large things.

That axehead was stuck in that tree for years. I visited it recently only to find that some rotten sod has stolen it! I am happy to say that the tree survived.
BTW it makes a fairly challenging 'hard' jigsaw.

How old this tree is ? I think it is too too old.Such tree should be treeted very carefully and to be protected .It is a history.
Where their Sons and Grandsons ,No one take care about his Mum or Grand Mum?????

Interesting picture. We had a hail storm this afternoon at school. Not fun trying to keep a bunch of preteens calm when there is golf ball sized hail flying around. We kept everyone inside and luckily it passed quickly.

Ornamental Cherry Trees a riotous pink down our east-west streets. Kids playing in schoolyards with short sleeves with freezing temperatures and big dry snowflakes whirrling around. Ahh, that's spring Victoria style.

Was it stuck such a long time that the handle perished?

Rose, I really don't know. It was a mature tree, but not that mature. I suspect a practical joker.
