A quick google: made by Perrier since 1954, and the name is supposedly the sound it makes when the bottle is opened.

Sounds good, but I don't drink sodas.

I stopped drinking soda pop too, Dorthea, about twelve years ago. At first for my health, but now it just tastes horrible to me.

An onomatopoeia by any other sound is still a &*@#%#! in another language.

I don't think it would sell well here. Kinda like the Chevy Nova in Latin America. The gringos didn't understand that in spanish, "no va" means "it doesn't go".

The mind boggles! Surely a VERY little thought would have told them that this was NOT a good name for a beverage ... even in French! "La limonade de toujours" indeed ...! Oh my!

Another one of our photos from the France trip a couple of years ago. I didn't have any of this particular beverage but my sons assured me it tasted just fine.
