Good morning to all! Nice photo. We haven't ssen all that much of these mornings yet here in Ottawa, and this is supposed to be our worst winter month! Yes Cathy, where is the snow?

We are supposed to get snow this week. Hope not.

I haven't seen it look like that here yet this winter.

Canuk Greg, what will become of Ottawa's Winter Carnival? You'll be kayaking on the Rideau instead of skating on it.

Greg, I guess your Winter Carnival will be just like our 'Henley on the Todd' which is a rowing/sailing carnival held every year on the Todd River at Alice Springs in the centre of Australia - on a dry river bed! They had to cancel it one year because it rained and there was water in the river.

Although we've been enjoying a warm and snowless winter, it is sad to see bulbs and flowering trees spending their blooming energy too early. And salamanders emerging, unsuspecting that the reality of cold will soon do them in. Hope More...

as: I'm with you on fear of the climate change. Iceland and Greenland are seeing major effects already. Canada may be getting a lot of immigrants soon, and losing some long time residents (polar bears).

Cathy and Ian: No skating this year, and the snowmobile race on the Canal that I proposed will now have to be a canoe race! What a weird winter!

Lisa, I do feel sympathy for you and others in Colorado. It reminds me of the winter of '78 in New England. We had so much snow dumped on us in February that year, that it was a week before our street was cleared -- by bulldozers! -- so that we could travel by car again. We and our 4 sons More...

OMG..chris you really make me shudder with that report i bet....i am new to this place,will be leaving shortly..but my boy who is also new to this place is gonna be here...may the climate be kind to him...so far we have seen snow just for a day,that to very minimum....

After a warm 2006, we had the coolest December in ages here is Sydney. January has been very mild. Temps in the early-mid 20s (centigrade). Should be well into the 30s in January.
