Good Maen! I think I have a plant like that too,, it resembles a Lantana.

4:34 Yep, that's a butterfly bush, so named because the flowers supposedly attract butterflies to the garden. Can anyone attest to this?

Hi all. I think it's a Hoya. Common name is Butterfly bush. I'll hunt up the botanical name if anyone wants it. Yes, they do attract butterflies

4:04, according to Wikipedia. Buddleja or Buddleia, Several species are popular garden plants, The species are commonly known as Butterfly Bush due to their attractiveness to butterflies; they are also attractive to bees, and the species with red flowers, to hummingbirds.

4:11 Hi to all. I have several of these in my garden too and the butterflies like to visit often, not as many species as I remember when I was little which is a shame... they all seem to be disappearing

Stella from NY - They will grow in your garden easily! I have a couple of varities(one is a so purple it is almost black!)and the butterflies love them. Every spring I cut down to 1-2 inches from ground. I live in zone 5. New growth sprouts in May-June. By August, the butterflies are amazing. I have a couple of great photos but do not know how to post here.

Nice flowers!
Somebody said that is is actually a lilac. I do not agree, lilac has almost round single leaves. I'd never seen Butterfly bushes in real life.

Good afternoon to all! Nice photo. Would be an attractice addition to the house, but when does it bloom, and does it bloom for the whole season?

Chris, thanks for the tip of cutting back the butterfly bush so close to the ground. I've seen some that get so gangly looking, so I've been hesitant to purchase one for our garden. Now I might give it a try!

Yes this one is most likely to be Buddleia davidii which is native to Central and Western China and is named after its discoverer Father Armand David, a French missionary-naturalist. There are many cultivars including 'Cardinal' (rich purple-pink), 'Black Knight' (dark purple), 'Empire Blue' More...

Totally right Hether - Buddleia davidii - beautiful hardy bush - the almost black flowered 'Black Knight' is a beautiful cultivar.
