Indicate which comments you would like to be able to see
... a Scots ballad: 'They hae slain the Earl of Murray / and laid him on the green'.

and actually, I do know about blackface - in my country. Not every country is the same, you know.

Catherine, I cannot translate my comment about the picture. I was the victim of racial abuse when I was young, because my father was Irish and I have an Irish surname. We were brought up to respect everyone no matter where they came from. All were invited into our house and treated as guests. If the picture is offensive to anyone then they should contact Gath and say so.

Lady Mondegreen est un jeu de mot un peu coquin.
'Comment vas-tu ? Tuyau de poêle!' c'est pas terrible mais c'est tout ce que je trouve comme 'à peu près' ce soir!

It's a name for express your idea: in french tolerance. My family have friends from many religions and from all social category. And I am very sensitive about injustice.
 |  |
to catherine,
'Lady Mondegreen' ressemblent 'laid him on the green' si tu parle rapidement.

For those who don't know the French song, More...

En dehors de tout I don't find this word play very poetical!

to Suzanne,

has the codes for the circumflex and accent grave.
I just copy and paste it from there.

You might recall in America last century a famous vaudeville star named Al Jolson. I wonder if he was offensive.
 |  |
I must go now to help my neighbour (a Ugandan from Africa) He has borrowed a computer from me do do word-processing for his degree studies. I am his technical support (free of charge).

Bonne nuit Catherine, à demain ♥

Remember, this is an Australian site.

Catherine/France: You're from Lorraine? No wonder you speak German!

8:20 funny photo. The world has gone 'PC' mad. Get over it. Chill out and laugh. No one died.
 |  |
I have also think of Al Johnson. He was white and jewish and not offensive!
 |  |
I don't think that Al Jolson would be doing his act these days, as the puritanical pc wowsers would have to put a stop to it. How else could they justify their stance and get their 5 minutes of fame. Offensive photo! It still surprises me how thin skinned and dodgy some people are
 |  |
Exactly my point!
 |  |
Bill, Merci pour les website.
Re: Al Jolson. Yes, he was considered offensive by the black population. This country is very touchy about it's black/white relations and our nasty history of slavery. Personally, I don't find the photo offensive, given the British history I've read about it. All More...

Just glanced back. Someone thinks this photo is HORRIFYING! Got to be easily scared!

MMMMM-my client dropped off some chocolate covered nuts and fruits on my porch this afternoon. My son just opened them up. I am certain they will not last the evening.
 |  |
I have been eating nonstop cookies, chocolates, all kinds of goodies I have gotten for the holidays. I have already gained 5 pounds which on my 4'10' frame shows! I have hit 100 lbs....haven't been in 3 digits since my last pregnancy. I'm getting a beer gut, or rather a chocolate gut. Mmmm but it's worth it...

Well said Baz. In the UK 'they' are trying to get us to stop saying Happy Christmas, incase it offends someone. Bog off is what i say. So HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE XXXX

Happy Hanu-Christma-Kwanzakuh (that's the latest PC greeting here!)

to Bill:merci pour le petit coeur! A demain
to Jh from champaign hello I am very pleased to read you again. Lorraine is a area which was occupied (?) from German. But it is an old history and people who have learnt german in the school are very old.I came here at ten years and my first stranger language was german.Sorry for spelling mistakes!

'Boys on Ivy' was one I remember singing as a teenybopper and beyond.
 |  |
OK.Don't anyone dare mention what is celebrated on 25 December. We wouldn't want to offend the non-christians (most of whom will no doubt take the public holiday though).

most wars are started on the vague basis of religion. Crazy, crazy world. If you have to believe in something, believe in shopping, handbags, new shoes and Starbucks. Hurrahhhh
 |  |
Just remembered another blooper. Eva-poor-rated milk. Actually said this one until well into my twenties. My eldest daughter taught herself to read when she was three and pronounced some words the way they were spelt. She still pronounces some words arse-about and all that with an IQ over 170!!!
 |  |
8:34. On a lighter note, received my anniversary present last night instead of today. Figured 'beloved' didn't want to spend money.
I wasn't offended

Sorry folks the pic is of 'First Footers' in England. The black on their faces is to represent coal and the costumes are because it was a New Year's Eve party and costume was the dress of the day. No offence intended, don't forget we are on an Australian site and Gath would not have been aware of the possible racial implications.
 |  |
Yeah Thanks Su. Sydney is currently having it's race/religion based violence problems, which, though I haven't lived there, and don't particularly like the place, I find incredibly, madenningly sad. And it is all to do with people's dis-satisfaction with others interpretation of their life. I am More...

Hey, not Telling, That is cool. If you are fair dinkum, a proper giggle

Hi everyone! I am with Yvette, please people we are all from different cultures and societies I thought that on here we all where one family?? guess I was wrong, no-one should take offence to anything on here, as that is not the way it is ment to be taken! unless it is directed at you personally and it's nasty? BTW Warren loved rearrange the letters!lol

...imagine...no countries..no religion..
nothing to kill or die for...
a brotherhood of man...
He sure had the vision, didn't he??

He sure did Suzanne! if only we all could try and live like that, what a really beautiful place this world would be!!
