Hmm, huge stretchy knit stockings.
Judy - we had to learn the hard way about chocolate in stockings. We now put the chocolate in the stockings on Christmas morning after the previous evening's fire has gone out. On cold Christmases when we need the fire, we put the stockings under the tree.

Santa filled the stockings, ate the chocolate, drank some burgundy, let out the pup, drank some more burgundy, lit the fire then had to figure out how to get back up on the roof.
