5:09. Ah, good old Flinders Street station. I haven't been there for a while but used to be a frequent visitor.

 |  |

What country/city is this station in?
 |  |
I believe it is in Melbourne, Australia. Lovely city.
 |  |

Good Maen. Attractive city scene.
 |  |
Yes, it's Melbourne, and I agree--a terrific city.
 |  |
Wherever Flinder's Street Station is, it is in a beautiful city. I don't get out of Florida too often so I really enjoy seeing the pictures of other parts of the world. I dream about where can go. It is also a great way to teach my sons about geography.

5:21. Maen.

Then load Google Earth and try to find the location.

6:02 Hi to all, very quiet today anyone would think it is Christmas!!
 |  |
If I didn't know any better, I would think this was in Chicago. It looks just like a closed train station in the South Loop.

It is Flinders Street Railway Station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. This lovely old building is a remnant of times past and as you can see, it is gradually being overpowered by the growing Melbourne skyline. Melbourne is a great city though.

Good afternoon to all! Nice photo, and Ian, this is happening everywhere. We are overpowering our past as there are not enough people trying to protect heritage sites.
 |  |
mAen all - 80 and rainy here today - would love to go see this railway station - my sister lives in Australia and have not seen her in years.
 |  |

Jan, come on over. You have a perfect excuse.

Melbourne CBD from the south of the yarra river looking north
cheers
 |  |

IAN - great job, as always.

A major meeting place in Melbourne is 'Under the clocks' of Flinders Street Station. There are a series of steps there and someone is always sitting there waiting for someone to arrive before a foray into town.

Greg: One of the worst cases about overpowering the past is Rome. When Rome fell there wasn't enough money to maintain everything. The forum was destroyed by people grabbing the stones to use for new construction. They didn't even bother razing old buildings, either. They just built on top of More...

Tess,
Can't tell you how many times I did that as a kid/teen growing up in Melbourne- thanks for that fond memory. Great photo.

I have yet to visit Melbourne but hope to do so in the new year after the almond harvest is finished we are going to see some friends that moved to Werribee and they are going to show us the sights. Have a good day/night everyone.

Good Maen all.

Nice to finish the puzzle and see a familiar landmark emerge

For those canadians on this forum, Melbourne reminds me of Vancouver - yes I have been to both cities. Its climate is similar (except in summer) and the 'feel' of the place is similar. Both cities also have a light rail (trams in MElbourne, electric trolley buses in Vancouver) public transport system which is second to none.
 |  |
Good Maen to everyone around the world. Isn't it remarkable that we can puzzle play toeghter around the time zones.
